I say dissolve both parties altogether. Neither side brings anything to the table anymore. Even If a solution to one of the many issues that face this country were to come about, the opposing party would do its best to grind it to a halt.
I used to be a Republican but now I'm for neither.......I am now only ashamed .

What's with shutting down all the parks and main ports?
Seems like its a way to deter those who are able to survive in the wilderness or feed themselves.

Technically speaking, it's the same reason you bite on a virgin's ear as you do the dirty deed.
The pain from the ear bite "masks" the pain from...elsewhere.
At least such is my understanding.

I read somewhere this morning that he was asked by the Park Service to stop doing that and made him leave.
He was not arrested for his good deed. That surprises me.

If our government is going to be causing all of these problems for all of us then perhaps its time for a new one. One that actually cares about employment and treating cancer patients instead of continuing to fund wars, White House chefs, and golf courses. I could say this is getting ridiculous, but it's already ridiculous enough for people to realize our government doesn't work for us anymore.

Of course the government is sticking it to the people. And of course the government is expecting the people to get angry. Why else would the MSM actually report these things? Propaganda! What is one way of "restoring order" when unruly citizens are rioting and causing mayhem? Martial law? What is one thing that people here on ATS and elsewhere been speculating is an inevitability with this government? Martial law? What are economists saying will happen to not only our economy, but the world economy if the "shutdown" persists? Collapse?

Could it be that this is designed to elicit a response? I would have to say that in that case, checkmate for the US citizenry. If the citizens go the peaceful route, we potentially end up in FEMA camps or in a real-world version of Orwell's 1984. If we go the revolutionary route, we end up slaughtered, rounded up in FEMA camps and in a real-world version of Orwell's 1984. It's a lose-lose for the populace at this point. This is 1776. Just because the folks of USA have more guns than the government, doesn't mean that we would win any war against, them, even theoretically. We have pea-shooters, they have tanks.

Besides, what happens, happens at this point. We should always oppose evil and tyranny, but Jesus said it best: "Those who live by the sword die by the sword." I'd rather go into the night peacefully.

How is this the President's fault? It is the republicans that are refusing to take a vote.

President Obama has compromised on everything (I tend to the word - caved myself). Obamacare, ACA, is a republican law, created by the Heritage foundation, put into action in Mass by Governer Romney and accepted (compromised by) the current administration in order to get it passed into law which it was by republicans and
democrates a like.

Conservative Republicans want it both ways. When the Conservative Heritage Foundation in the early 1990′s put forth the idea of a health care law with the trigger mechanism of an individual mandate there was approval from such Conservative icons as Bob Dole and Newt Gingrich. Mitt Romney as governor pushed through the Massachusetts state legislature the Heritage Foundation model. The rationale behind this conservative proposal was its appeal as an alternative to a single payer approach to national health insurance.

Now that President Obama and the Democrats adopted the Heritage Foundation model and secured its passage as federal law, it all of a sudden, became both unconstitutional and “socialism run amok.” To challenge its constitutionality the Conservative Republicans have gone after the Commerce Clause— its original meaning and its more contemporary meaning since 1942. John Marshall, a Founding Father, a delegate at the Virginia Ratification Convention of 1788, a member of Congress from Virginia in the 1790′s and this country’s first great Chief Justice, in the decision of Gibbons v Ogden in 1824, defined commerce broadly as business intercourse in all its branches and effects. This is the same Chief Justice who read Founding Father Alexander Hamilton’s theory of elastic constitutional interpretation into the meaning of the Constitution with such decisions as McCulloch v Maryland back in 1819 which gave Congress the power to create a national bank and affirmed the constitutional doctrine of implied powers.
