MORE than a dozen insurgents attacked the Polish Embassy in Baghdad with machine guns today, prompting embassy guards to return fire in an exchange that lasted for half an hour.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman in Warsaw said no-one was reported killed or injured.

US troops rushed to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the attackers had fled.
