Not to even mention the real alarm bells.

It's the high deductibles that will kill millions.

Some of the 'plans' are as high as $5000 !!!!!!

I saw that, and the better plan is 1200...that might as well be no medical insurance at all except for catastrophic insurance.

I keep telling everyone it is not the lack of insurance it is the artificial high cost that insurance companies have created.

Certainly the medical providers have much to do with this.

48 million people who probably rarely or never went to a doctor because they couldn`t afford it will now have insurance and be running to the doctor every time they have a little ache or pain.

Well now there is the problem, isn't it? We have a system that tells you to see a doctor if you don't feel well, "for the well-being of the community-just in case." On the flip side, these same types tell us to "use our healthcare responsibly, live healthy," so we don't need to run to the doctor for every ache and pain. Bollocks on the whole lot, I say. can't have it both ways, This bloody system is going to destroy us.

I guess we are not the only ones who see chaos coming. Senate just stripped the bit about defunding Obamacare and passed it back to the house. Senator from Iowa was just quoted saying...
"We are at one of the most dangerous points in our history right now -- every bit as dangerous as the break-up of the Union before the Civil War," said Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa.

Wow and some folks were saying they would eventually go down. I mean the rates were expensive to begin with and now they are going through the roof. I guess they are going to be affordable for business executives who make half a million a year.

What a scam!

If half the population cant afford something and then the government makes it mandatory to have it, and the prices go up rather than down, there is something really wrong with this picture.

1)healthcare is grossely over-valued profession in america.
2)college tuition is too high, especially medical school
3)big pharma has to sell expensive in america because they undersell in other countries.
4)not enough competition in the insurance industry
5)government colludes with HMOs to keep prices high, and to bailout them out of a bad situation.
6)demand and supply would have seen prices deflate substantially given enough time, but to prevent this they came up with ACA, under the guise of cheap and no exceptions.

You said it was bright sunshine outside, but when I looked it was dark!

Yep.

The Democrats will throw everything including the kitchen sink at this.

They will use *ALL* available resources to further their agenda, and binge $pend to get there,

They're out of ammunition and will revert to the sloppy and schlock name calling.

They might even throw the baby out with the bathwater this time !!!!

Ok, this probably needs its own thread, but Im out in the country and have very limited data, watching and posting videos takes more than I have so I cant start one. The president just came on tv "breaking news" the first few words were about making a deal with Iran. The rest of it was saying that he was not going to allow the government to shut down. Said the game that was being played was not how the constitutional and what Congress was doing was not how the democratic system works. Said his message to congress was... Pass the bill. Pay your debts and don't close the house down because you didn't get your way. Then repeated the he was not going to let this happen to the american people, not going to allow the govt to shut down and also repeated that this was not how the democratic system was supposed to work.

I am spitting mad. Can someone post this video for me? When did the president have the right to tell Congress what to do and how to vote or keep them from having a say in what happens??? This IS how the democratic system works! VOTES.

Everyone who voted Obama for a second term deserves to have a mandatory insurance policy and deserves to go fight against assad in syria. Do your job and be a good little democratic patriot. LOL!!!!!

Not sure Romney would have been better, but I doubt this bad either.

Where is Gary Johnson? Only one percent voted for him.

The video is on CSpan, but I cant post it. Reading some of the news summaries of his speech leaves out the statements that voting is not how a democracy works and leaves out the part where he is not going to let it happen.

By the time obama is done with america, there will be no jobs, war with syria and iran, no guns, lots of health insurance, a collapsed economy and maybe even ATS will be outlawed as a terrorist site.

And I like this site. damm it.

From his speech..

I have said in the past, and I will continue to say, that I’m willing to make a whole bunch of tough decisions, ones that may not be entirely welcome by my own party.

then goes on to say..

I don’t know how I can be more clear about this: Nobody gets to threaten the full faith and credit of the United States just to extract political concessions. No one gets to hurt our economy and millions of innocent people just because there are a couple of laws that you do not like. It has not been done in the past. We’re not going to start doing it now.

I’m not going to start setting a precedent, not just for me, but for future presidents, where one chamber in Congress can basically say each time there needs to be a vote to make sure Treasury pays its bills, we’re not going to sign it unless our particular hobby horse gets advanced.

his message to congress..

My message to Congress is this: Do not shut down the government. Do not shut down the economy. Pass a budget on time. Pay our bills on time. Refocus on the everyday concerns of the American people. There will be differences between Democrats and Republicans. We can have all kinds of conversations about how to resolve those differences. There will be areas where we can work together. There will be areas where we disagree. But do not threaten to burn the house down simply because you haven’t gotten a hundred percent of your way. That’s not how our democracy’s supposed to work.

Well, I guess he has spoken. Why even bother with a vote? He wants it a particular way so be it???? Objecting is not how democracy works? He sure put the House in its place didn't he? My goodness that was quite the reprimand.

Demands such as this are the demands of tyrants. What was it Frodo said to Boromir? "What you say may sound like reason, except for the warning in my heart." Something like that. That's how I feel about what he said in his speech. He wants people to think he actually cares about them to the point where you almost believe him. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" Movie reference day.

God this whole thing reminds me of this famous video:

I am just floored. It makes me feel weak in the knees and filled with a migraine level headache just thinking about where this is going and what is coming down the pike. What happens after a major disaster? Everyone will need medical care, emergency services. perhaps nothing bad will happen until the money starts rolling in? Does this buy us time even if it breaks our bank accounts first?
