What a day when becoming a political office holder is like jury duty.
That is a very good idea and perhaps the best way to get rid of career politicians. What they may lack in experience would be off-set by a lack of
corruption from lobbyists. The experience those representatives gain don't seem to help them make better decisions, only a better idea of how to line
their pockets.
I once served on a jury in a criminal case that spent 7 weeks in court - a very long trial. I was selected jury foreman when we went into deliberation
for 4 days and ultimately arrived at an acquittal. I have been called in for jury duty many times after that but have been dismissed during voir dire
by every prosecutor since and have never served on a jury again. Acquittal is not the desired outcome they are seeking, but it happens.
