I wondered in a panic what happened and took into consideration the possibility that they all simply disappeared into the great ATS void,like where socks, lighters and pens all seem to go.

Seriously thanks for letting us know and for trying to fix this nasty bug. One more thing I noticed also is that we no longer receive notification that we have mail. That was a really great feature about this forum. Would love to see that back.

If not .. we could use one somehow. A light coming on or a button lighting up or something ...

Okay, I've read all this, and so via corruption of data, my messages are gone, gone, gone, no matter how attached to them I was.

But here is my new question: today, after new "virgin" message system, I have a reply in my replied inbox....and over the last hour it disappeared without my deleting it. So...what does that mean? Hmmmm.

Will you be clearing our inboxes and response to replies, daily, then?

Man... I just went through and deleted all my old messages and reply notifications, took me like 30 minutes. If i would have just procrastinated a bit longer SO would have done it for me.

Just goes to show that procrastination is the way to be.

So only just some of us had corrupted data and had our message removed? Just asking, cause my replies to posts were removed in the last four hours, so how long will this go on? As long as I'm here or what?

I know huh? I reallly meant to take some time and just go through and do it but...

apparently i don't get enough messages. i do like the new notification thing though. at least now if i do get a message i know it.

At ID we use an automated mechanism that automatically prunes inbox and sent messages that are 90 days or older. Of course if you have a message you wish to keep you can move it to a custom folder for safekeeping. And of course premium members and staff are protected from pruning.

Keeps the bloat down, and keeps the queries low.

Well, there is probably some cosmic lesson about learning to release attachment involved here. Thanks for all you do, you guys.

Just FYI and maybe its just my machine but, that row that indicates the message icon only shows when I'm at the top of the page. Once I start scrolling to read the thread it disappears.

It's not your machine, that is how it is designed to work. It is not part of the "static menu" that remains as you scroll.
