Has any one noticed the strange interactive thing at the Google.com home page? It's celebrating Leon Foucault's Birthday

Jean Bernard Léon Foucault was a French physicist best known for the invention of the Foucault pendulum, a device demonstrating the effect of the Earth's rotation. Wikipedia

Leon Foucault

I just don't understand how or what to do with the interactive game at the home site of google.com

can anyone figure it out?

It's just a small interactive version hf one of his creations. It's not a game, rather closer to a model.

Use the second meter to place where you are located in the world. Notice how moving the slider, moves the line on the globe.

Drag the first meter to the top. The very top, you'll notice the starting animation. Now you could actually watch the thing for a full 24 hours, or move the slider slowly down to increase time.

yahoo answer.

Imagine a pendulum at the North (or South) Pole. As the pendulum swings the Earth rotates underneath it so that the pendulum appears to be itself rotating. This effect is seen everywhere on Earth, except the Equator, in lesser degrees.

Hope this helps,
