Anyway to stop automatic subscibing?

For the first time ever I looked into my "subscritions" and saw a random mish-mash of every thread I've ever posted in since day one.

Now I'm noticing these little tags on the threads I've posted in since the change over.

It isnt a deal breaker or anything I just find it sort of annoying that I'd have to opt-out rather than in to thread subscribing. It's a big cluttered mess.
