I apologise for the Pompass remark. It was uncalled for.

Thanks now lets move on

As in the response from a Brit about am American issue...uncalled for.

So as a Brit by your logic i have no right to comment on American issues, thats what your saying?

Do you pay taxes in my country? No. Do you vote in my country? No.

No but i do love your movies

Your a shill...your avatar even displays this fact.

ohhh more name calling

the "Super-Shill" thing, its sarcasm, I am not really a shill.

Want even respond with you any more

eh?

what does this even mean?

I digress that you are by far the superior human

your words not mine

you dont hurl insults and your unarmed.

I am very apt at insults and how do you know i am unarmed?

I on the other hand am armed to the teeth. And will stay that way till I die

please spare me the macho rhetoric, I am sure you make Rambo look like a action man doll.

I expect pompass stuff from the Brits.....It's what you do best.Bitch and complain about what you dont have. Rights. Now you saying in your own words you would shot me in the head. For what reason? This is another reason WHY I OPEN CARRY. Crazy folks like yourself. Oh I dont need a gun to make my penis bigger, good genes and awesome DNA took care of that for me. I also use it to beat folks with when I run out of bullets. SARCASM GOTTA LOVE IT.

Absolute BS. You may feel entitled to have a gun because you fancy being a hero one day but what about everyone else who sees you. They dont know who you are, you dont know who other gun holders are. How do you know ALL these people are good people. We all lose our temper sometimes and having a gun in these situations is just wrong. What if someone uses your own gun against you. Everywhere you go there is access to a lethal weapon (yours). Its not that hard for someone to take it from you especially is you have it on display. You should be a cop. You have the same attitude.

Gun crime in the UK is very low indeed. We dont feel the need to protect ourselves to that extent as a result. I for one am happy not to live in fear like you seem to do.

I guess coming from a much safer country the idea of carrying a lethal weapon seems just crazy to us 'pompass' Brits. I have never had my home invaded, been robbed in the streets or ever been threatened with my life in any way, and Im from a lower class area in the north of England. I guess your culture is very different than ours. Do what you feel you need to do, your country, your choice. Im just glad we dont have to do it in the UK or here in Italy either (there are lots of guns here but they dont feel the need to carry them around everywhere they go either, people here use them for hunting, most country folk have them, but never for defence).

Pretty much the same in the UK too. We can get guns, lots of country folk have them but not for violence or defence.

Again with the empty rhetoric. Naturally everyone has their own opinions. I am asking you if you feel you have the right to dictate other people's opinion?

I just want to note a nod of respect here. I don't choose to open carry but I respect those who do...responsibly and not to make a spectacle, which some do by walking down main st. with a long gun and attitude.

It sounds like you're about the opposite of that here and just enjoying your day as a citizen who won't be a victim. On that? We need more with that approach, IMHO.

I expect that sort of response from someone who open carries

Your welcome to do what you like in your country but over here we got a bit more ...Errrr ... Sense .
Over here we prefer to hit people with sticks which means our police in general only hit us with sticks which to me seems preferable to giving them guns .

Is it true what they say about men with big guns ?

What I am saying is that you should not be walking around openly carrying a weapon, it intimidates others, you are probably eyed up by the cops whenever you leave the house and its just pointless. Why not conceal?

It is painfully obvious that YOU are the one intimidated by an inanimate object, which says a lot about you. Just be thankful you live in the UK and don't have to deal with being afraid of the big bad Americans and their firearms everyday. And as to why not conceal, why do you think the police do not conceal?

The object does not intimidate me, its the person carrying it.

I would hate to be sitting in a park with my kids and the guy on the bench next to us is sitting with his new big shiny gun.

its that simple.

which says a lot about you

ok, so.

Just be thankful you live in the UK and don't have to deal with being afraid of the big bad Americans and their firearms everyday

Tell you what I will swap you

you can come spend a week in Drum-Chapel in Glasgow with out your gun.

I will go spend a week in the states with my gun.

lets see does better.

Honestly, I am not "afraid" of anything how can i be when its on the other side of the ocean, just more of the pointless macho "my gun (penis) is bigger than your gun (penis)" BS.

Why do you assume i must be fearful of something,

Really

Who is living in fear, the guy who takes stroll down to the shop's unarmed, or the guy who takes a full loaded gun?

Cops here in Denmark do carry firearms openly. But I don't feel scared or intimidated by them in any way. Some part of it is that I know they are trained professionals, second part is that they don't have a reputation of pulling the trigger very often.

I could imagine that an American cop might scare me a bit more. I generally get the feeling that they tend to use intimidation a lot in their way of doing things. But I've traveled a lot, and people in uniforms, with guns, usually don't scare me. It is the ones without uniforms, who have no apparent reason to be carrying a weapon that might make me a bit paranoid.

Anyway.. I feel sorry for anyone who has to live in a place where they feel they need to look scary.

I have the right to dictate my own safety. As far as an anything else. That's your opinion. I have the right to legally open carry my firearm. That's all there is too it. If you have a problem with me doing it. So be it. Dont go asking me questions as to why I do it. It's legal and I have that right. I exercise that right. It scares mum's and her kids. I teach Mums & their kids to shoot safely and proper firearm procedure. Most of the women I know carry a firearm. Most with their kids right there with them. They tend to not want to be added to the statistics either. Never said I was Billy Bad A--. Never said my gun was an extension of my manhood, I do just fine in that dept. But all that was said about me ,because I went on a RAnt about being asked some many questions by the general populace . So as with the general populace. I OPEN CARRY. I have a RIGHT to do it. I do it legally. I do it to protect myself. No other reason.

Yes I think it would be wrong if the public did not know when a cop was armed

No i dont get "scared"

A question for you, why do you keep asking if i am "scared" or somehow fearful of guns?

Trying to explain the reason we Open Carry to someone who does not have that right, is a closed ended arguement. I explained why I carry, I explained why I wrote the RANT. What else am I to do? Send them all a copy of our Constitution. They can Google it. I applaud your Open Carry. I am sure you have dealt with the questions & looks? Do you see that it's becoming more prevalent in your area? I know it is in mine, OPEN CARRY that is. I live in a good area. I shot and killed a home invader who was armed. If I would have been un-armed I would not be writing this today, and a good possibility my wife would'nt either. Did I want that to happen? NO, HELL NO. I have to live with it each day. So does my family. Not a day goes by that I dont think about that night. The what if's ? I want take chances with what if's.

Agreed. And I was referring to the honestly curious U.S. citizens asking questions when you are carrying in public, not the annoying bloke trying to derail this thread. I was ignoring him.

I do respect your right to open carry but my personal preference is for concealed carry (which is what we have in Texas for handguns).

The 'element of surprise' seems preferable to me. Like another member noted, if someone really wanted to rob you but they saw your gun, then they'd minimize the threat to themselves by possibly coming up from behind you and shooting you in the head or stabbing you in the back.

In other words, you just laid out all of your cards on the table for them to see. My personal preference would be to surprise them. lol

Explain how my Open Carrying a firearm is dictateing someone else's opinion? They can have their opinion all they want. Just dont walk up to me out of the clear blue and bombard me with questions as to WHY i have a firearm on my hip. My firearm in carried in a Chicago Tack Holster. With a safty release, you can't just walk up and pull my weapon out of my holster. If I have came across as an ass in this thread, sorry, just ranting about all the questions I get on the dailey. I have never been questioned by LE at anytime or anywhere. Go Figure.

If they really want to rob me the firearm matters not. I agree. But the person is gonna get their self shot trying to get my firearm. I have heard all the arguements on that side. What surprises me the most is the fact most people dont know you can legally carry a firearm open on your person. I would say 2 out of 10 know you can. The other 8 need to read up on their rights as American citizens....and their local laws and ordinances.
