Friends and Rivals Buttons on New ATS Interface?

Hello board operators, I like to keep tabs of who I find pleasant to be around on ATS, is there still a way to add someone as a friend? Still getting used to the new interface.

The friends/rivals option was removed the last I heard. There were some stalking incidents apparently.

Yeah I liked my friends too ... had some of them from when I joined back in 2007 ... that's a shame.

After two plus years, a member finally made me a foe...with less than 24 hours left for that feature.

Hey, I got "Foe'd" at the last minute too by someone I'd had an issue with a few months ago. I thought all that was done and over with and then I got "Foe'd"- it's like why wait until the last minute?

Isn't that crazy? That someone could hold a grudge so long as to wait to do something like that? We must be super special BFFT!

I'm glad they are gone. I thought it was silly. People didn't understand the 'respected foe' list at all. They thought it was a 'I hate this person' or 'this person is an idiot' list. But it wasn't It was actually a compliment to be on the 'respected foe' list.

The main issue that influenced the decision to remove the friend/foe features...

Drama/stalking - the tool was being abused for rapidly harassing or trolling members another didn't like. We saw distinct patterns that was contrary to the intent of the feature.

It looks like its gone. If there were brilliant ideas for how to keep ATS safe from stalkers going after people and abusing the tools that make the rest of us sane and happy...I don't know - worth a shot maybe? We are not alone in missing this feature! The stalking thing is Wrong and hard to moderate, as it isn't technically against T&C and people are free to participate in threads, so... Mean people ruin the fun. I will try to convey how I feel about that with the strange blue emoticons:

Maybe"stalking" could be added to T&C - but how do you prove that, or keep someone from reverse-abusing this "accusation"? It gets complicated... I suppose I can bookmark my "friends" profile pages, but that is still cumbersome. Meh.

We may create a return of a friend or "follow" feature -- that builds on the existing friends lists of members -- in the near future. I just need to work out a better way for it to make sense and not be a rapid-response aid to those who want to harass or troll specific members.

That would be Awesome!!! I also appreciate the efforts at keeping the site safe from Stalkers, too.
We don't want the bullies to ruin everything.
