I gotta be honest, football boots do hurt and with all the running around & changing direction, knees & ankles really suffer.

I'm a community/schools football coach and I've lost count of how many of my colleagues have had to have operations cos of injuries from football. Granted, it's nowhere near as bad as rugby but people do get injured, it's just the pussies that play professionally that give football injuries a bad name cos they drop to the floor for anything

Henrik larssons leg (this should be in the top 3) :

www.youtube.com...

Then there's my somersault :

(video missing)

OK I'll describe it, it was described as quite spectacular. Full sprint forward and kicked ball at same time as ball blocked. Full 360 forward somersault with half twist, rotating around my shoulders so at half way my feet are 10 feet high, at this point (in super slow motion in my brain) I thought "this is going to be sore". Landed full force on right hand side and was black from bruising from hip to ankle for weeks.

Forgot to add: being an amateur I did not roll around but lay where I landed for 15 seconds then carried on playing.....a bit slowly at first.

One of the worst football injuries I have ever seen was in 1996, ironically the players name was David Busst, who played for Coventry City. After the injury he never played football again....

It was a shocking injury............

I'd post some well-known hockey injuries, but I think they might be a bit too much for the T&C's. Sport can be rough! Now you know why they get paid so well and retire early.

Yeah, I wasn't about to start posting neck-slashing vids and other blood-gushing mishaps. Ready for a full season?
