Not only is it Egyptian officials claiming they have documents linking Obama to the Muslim brotherhood but an article by Wayne Madsen says that big brass at the Pentagon has the same. If true Obama is really on a very short leash and bound to bite someone.

I wasn't sure if that story had teeth from the vid that was posted here (was that FlyerFan's thread?) but it looks like more details are coming to light. Political blackmail has a long tradition ala J. Edgar Hoover-style, but if this info turns out to be accurate wow!

I'm with you that Obama has something being held over his head. Gonna check out that Madsen report, thanks.

I'm sorry but i disagree with you.

It will not be the case that the dollar collapses, maybe it will loose value, but one can see that as an advantage because human labour will cost less and thus manufacturing will return to the US.
Import would be more expensive so people will import less and be more reliant on goods produced in the US itself.
Not a bad thing, the US will get back on its feet because americans are strong and independant.

But what needs to happen is that the financial scam is stopped and dealt with.
Mainly the rich will take a hit if the dollar loses value, they wont like that and will want to prevent that.
But the ordinary man will notice little as he has not much to loose but a lot to gain with a real economy getting back on its feet, jobs and manufacturing.

It will be a long time before we get away from oil. Look around you at all the things that have petrochemicals in them? Sure, we might someday soon move away from gasoline, but nearly everything has plastics and other petrochemical ingredients.

I hope I'm not straying too far off topic here, but I believe that the only reason it will be a long time before we get away from oil is because that is what has been chosen for us. Sure there are petrochemicals everywhere. That doesn't mean we don't have alternatives.

The argument for petrochemicals has always been that nothing else produces as much energy pound for pound and is as cost effective. That may be the case but if we really gave a damn we'd use alternatives, or create a system that works and is not dependent on fossil fuels. We have alternative materials and systems for manufacturing, fuel, etc. It's not like there aren't solutions available. There just aren't solutions the petrochemical industry likes (and there never will be as long as they are in a position to make trillions of dollars a year).

No worries about disagreeing. I appreciate your input. However, I'm not saying that scenario will undoubtedly happen, just that it's a possibility and IS probably pitched to Presidents in a manner something along those lines.

For one, it would give them a way to ease their conscience--sort of--when pressured to carry out our awful and hidden foreign policy.

Most of us feel, I think, that letting our manufacturing superiority be shipped overseas is one of the biggest factors that eventually led to this awful situation. We have, and are, capable of making some of the finest quality products in the world.

I hope, too, that we see a return to that status some day.
