Sec. of Defense Chuch Hagel LIED to Congress during Syria hearings, claimed Russia gave It CW's

When testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Hagel was asked where Syria’s chemical weapons came from, and responded: “Well, the Russians supply them, others are supplying them with those chemical weapons. They make some themselves.”


When pressed on the issue, a Pentagon spokesperson clarified Hagel’s remarks Wednesday evening with this statement:

"In a response to a member of Congress, Secretary Hagel was referring to the well-known conventional arms relationship between Syria and Russia. The Syrian regime has a decades-old largely indigenous chemical weapons program. Currently, Russia provides the Syrian regime a wide variety of military equipment and support, some of which can be modified or otherwise used to support the chemical weapons program. We have publicly and privately expressed our concern over the destabilizing impact on the Syrian conflict and the wider region of continued military shipments to the Assad regime."

Members of Obama's administration just keep on perjuring themselves. First it was James Clapper, NSA chief who lied by stating that the NSA doesn't keep data on US citizens. Now Chuck Hagel, Sec. of Defense, lied before Congress saying that Russia has been giving Syria chemical weapons. This, I imagine, would be a major violation of the Chemical Weapons Treaty, so I really doubt that it has gone on. Of course this statement, which was made before network news cameras as well as Congress, was walked back later, but how many news organizations are going to report on it, and show how the Sec. of Defense either lied or doesn't know what he is talking about.

To those who would say, well they provide weapons systems that can be modified to use chemical weapons, I say so what? The US supplies artillery and aircraft too, and these items can also be modified to use chemical weapons.

This statement by Hagel is just another lame attempt to gin up the reasons to attack Syria and to make Russia, which is siding with Syria, look bad. But what it really shows is what a lying and/or ignorant bunch of buffoons Obama has as his chief lieutenants.
