At over 44 recorded hours with 252 tracks the Robert Gribble audio collection is a bit of a big one but well worth a listen for anyone interested in UFO research -it contains raw UFO reports from police officers, pilots, USAF personnel, FAA employees, scientists, coastguards (as well as the general public) and involves lots of different UFO descriptions from disc, square, oval and bullet shaped objects right through to boomerang, cylindrical, triangular and arrow shaped ones.

Some of the first hand witness reports also involve aspects like E.M. effects, multiple witnesses, radar confirmation, animal reactions, physiological effects, vehicle interference etc.. and contain accounts of unidentified flying objects entering bodies of water, separating and merging together, pacing aircraft, executing right angle turns etc.. so it really is a great archive for a rainy day.

Review - Robert Barrow:

THE GRIBBLE COLLECTION

In this remarkable collection you won't find gaggles of stuffy scientists postulating what UFOs are or are not. Instead, refreshingly, here are folks from every walk of life reporting their UFO experiences in disturbing detail, sometimes right after they occur, and sometimes as they happen in real-time-witnesses in denial or scared out of their wits, or people who simply seek an explanation following the most bizarre event their lives will ever know. The depth of military and government agency involvement or cooperation evidenced in these telephone recordings, it must be noted, simply astounds.

Case Summaries

Michel M. Deschamps over at NOUFORS has hosted the archive compiled by Wendy Conners at the link below -there's also a great collection of UFO Government documentation in PDF Format on the site which can be found here.

Archive - Wendy Conners:

Research Recordings of Robert Gribble.

Robert Gribble began his research into the unidentified flying object phenomena in 1955. He began the Aerial Phenomena Research Group (APRG), which circulated a newsletter detailing new cases. In late 1974, Gribble converted the Phenomena Research Reporting Center to allow the public a place they could call and report their experiences to a nonjudgmental researcher. Commonly known as the UFO Reporting Center or UFO Central during the early years, it became known internationally as the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). First calls received began on November 11, 1974.

Over a period of twenty years, Gribble received thousands of telephone calls from witnesses of actual encounters with UFOs, which were recorded and data collected. On-site investigations and interviews were conducted by Gribble and his associates and accompanying documentation for cases were archived..

These recordings are of actual witness interviews to UFO encounters and were selected to show a broad based overview of the UFO phenomena being observed and reported.

It makes no difference whether a person believe, or not believe, in UFOs. But the reality is found here and is indisputable. Nobody, as yet, has proven any of the theories of where these objects originate and why they are encountered. Robert Gribble has made the truth abundantly clear…and you'll hear it directly from people of all walks of life. For the seasoned researcher, this audio data is priceless as the missing half of research that written data could never convey…the human element.

These'll be great to listen to on a long car trip. Have you heard of crafts covered in a "porous foam rubber" material (reported by military airmen in a plane which had been 'paced' by said craft... Or the one where the football -looking glowing thing was touches by a witness who described it as "vibrating water".
Cool post.

Thanks for the replies and I really can't see anyone being bored when listening to this lot -

In this regard, the compilation includes such witnesses as a no-nonsense trucker in Montana whose tanker truck engine was apparently disabled by a disc-shaped UFO, temporarily stopping his watch in the process..

Another weird incident involves a pregnant woman in New Mexico, driving a car with her young son aboard, who is unpleasantly surprised when a large blue object touches down in front of her truck and then returns to the sky..

One caller, formerly a cadet pilot at Lackland Air Force Base,Texas in 1954, relates a story of a UFO landing 30 feet from his group, only to zip away vertically when confronted..

A retired Air Force pilot almost sounds annoyed when he calls to report his car being followed by a large gray object accompanied by several smaller objects..

A Utah man relates how an object chasing his car causes a tingling in his neck and extreme electrical interference as the alternator, gauges and "everything went crazy.."

A brief but highly curious event reported by a private pilot in California involves three arrow-shaped objects flying in formation and disappearing at high speed..

In Washington, an egg-shaped UFO maneuvers around a police helicopter, affecting the instruments..

Among other disc tracks is the case of children at a California school who watch a Saturn-like UFO hover over their school, accompanied by a massive vibration in the area..

During one of many triangle reports included here, two police officers observe such an object with red and blue lights within 60 feet, hovering near a power generation plant, and it departs at high speed..

Kkrattiger, had never really heard of a UFO described that way before although as Robert Barrow mentions in UFOradio's link, there is another very similar report to track 242 at track 237 - was also put in mind of this government document describing a close range UFO encounter with a pilot which states 'the observor noted small spots on the object which he descibed as being similar to craters on the moon through a high powered telescope'
Cheers.

Related thread from Kandinsky about one of the reports in the archive:

A mid-70s UFO report to Bob Gribble's NUFORC hotline. The lady describes an experience from 1964/65 of an object hovering over the RAF Chicksands listening station. The audio is sourced from Wendy Connors' Faded Discs collection after Bob Gribble donated 4 years worth of recorded hotline UFO reports. It's an interesting account and remains unresolved.

Is the formidable and brilliant Kandinsky still alive?? Love & respect that dude...been missing him.

Sincerely hope so my friend and I do too -states on his profile his last post was in June and I haven't seen him around on any other blogs he likes to frequent like The Big Study, Paracast or UFO Iconoclasts.

Really do wonder where the dickens he could have got to and will certainly ask around (he's probably just sat on a beach taking a well earned break).

Cheers!

Here's an important historical report made to Robert Gribble that didn't make it into the collection, the call reporting the Cash-Landrum sighting:

Wendy Connors presents recording of Vickie Landrum's initial UFO incident report to NUFORC (the National UFO Reporting Center). She cleaned it up for audio quality, editing out only address and phone numbers. Here's the original announcement for it:

Wendy Connors 16 Feb 2005 07 Subject: Big Doings On SDI Saturday Night

"Big doings on Strange Days... Indeed - this week. Errol and I will be presenting new audio clips of importance to the field of Ufology....
Later, we'll play Vickie Landrum's first call for assistance to Bob Gribble at NUFORC, about a month after she and Betty Cash became ill from the effects of a UFO they encountered near Dayton, TX. This is the first time this recording has been publicly aired and is unknown to the vast majority of researchers."

The Cash-Landrum portion begins at about 1:20.50:
"Yes sir, this is Vickie Landrum from Dayton, Texas..."

Bumping this worthy thread and offering an example of might be done to bring these historical recordings to a wider audience.

The previously-mentioned recording of Vickie Landrum's UFO report has been accompanied by case photos, illustrations and a map.

More UFO reports submitted to Robert Gribble - related by Professor Michael Swords.

A Quick Notice of a Coincidence

This first foray involves a case from Bangor, WA [at a Naval Submarine Base] in 1989. The case is OK. Although it involved two young boys, it was reported quickly to Bob Gribble and a very good researcher, Don Johnson, did the casework. Don did the first contact just one day after the encounter.

The kids were playing at the Base's playground swings equipment, when they saw "a big circular object" hovering over the nearby house, shine a beam down towards it, then move over their own heads [altitude only around 20-40 feet over the house; a little higher for them.] The thing then shown a beam directly down at them..

Happy listening Zazz, there really are some freaky accounts - just read Robert Barrow's review again and forgot how good it was, don't forget this one!

Finally, though the disc surface has barely been scratched in this review, there's a 25-minute section that absolutely must not be ignored, a UFO incident capturing the attention of at least four separate Midwestern U.S. radar facilities. FromDecember 17, 1977 we hear an enigma in progress as Gribble attempts to sort out the status of two objects flying at supersonic speed, tracked on radar. During this ufological roller-coaster ride, the UFOs actually chase an Air Force plane, reverse course and, incredibly, may have caused equipment failure at both the Ellsworth AFB RAPCON unit and the SouthDakota Weather Station.

At one point, an Air Force tech sergeant tells Gribble, "Just a few minutes ago, right after we started tracking these things, we completely lost all of our radar equipment." After some checking with equipment maintenance people, Gribble is further advised: "Our radar has completely quit on us and we cannot find out the reason why."
