Why are we looking for any other answer? It's obvious...

This man is War Criminal...Why should any more people die?

He is killing his own people. He has broken several International Laws.

He should be the sole target. Where the hell is Seal Team 5...Bet they are ready..

We want this man to stop killing his people. So we decide we will protest by killing his people.

We have used drones on American Citizen's. Why would we hesitate blowing this guy away?

He is not worth one more life on either side. Kill or Capture, preferably the first one.

PS. Don't tell me he is a leader of a Country...Remember Saddam and Qaddafi?...

I posted this in another thread and have yet to get a reply. So I'll gie it a shot here.

Why?

If we are to have such a moral outrage over the use of WMD's is it only in it's USE?

A country can HAVE WMD's and it's ok, but if they USE them, then it's "hammer time"?

Because, apparently, we knew that Assad has had a chemical weapons program for a while. And that was cool, I guess. But then the USE of chemical weapons is the game changer?

Seems kind of morally ambiguous to me.

GWB and Cheney are war criminals as well.

US has broken International Law as well.

Using drones on our own citizens is evil, wrong and unconstitutional.

We should not have invaded Iraq or aided in Qaddafi's over through either.

Yeah I agree, it's murky situation with both sides. Even if we get rid of Assad, we will have to deal with the Syrian equivalent of the mafia. This Syrian mafia could become a proxy for Iran or CIA.

I'll bet there are threads on Syrian conspiracy websites saying exactly the same thing about Obama!

Right.

Say we take Assad out. Muslim Brotherhood/Al Queada steps in.

Now THEY have WMD's.

To be honest, I don't think many people on ATS care one bit about the man. The issue people have is the fact the U.S. is dragging itself into another war, and it's obvious this isn't going to be short term like Obama says. We have Iran, and Russia verbally and physically showing they're ready to back Syria, the Syria that is ready to defend itself without Russia or Iran. We don't have the money, and these attacks might have very well been done by the rebels or terrorists.

Too many problems here, I'd be more supportive of Turkey and France going along with their "attacks" and "regime change" while we sit back and assist if they couldn't handle themselves. Being at the front of this and acting like enforcers of international laws and agreements we ourselves have broken or have not confronted in the past is ridiculous.

This nation is about to see its demise. Can we get just a few decades to fix ourselves before we try again, just to fail, at fixing the world.

It is illegal for the US to directly assassinate the leader of another country. See cause of WWI for reasons why. The UK, however, has no problem with conducting them.

Great replies...

If we are so worried about who takes over...Why do anything?

The man is a War Criminal. Arrest him or kill him.

At least he wont be ordering any more attacks of any kind.

If anyone else wants to be a war criminal...Deal with them accordingly.

That is the crux of the matter!

Just because Obama says it won't be a drawn out war doesn't mean it won't be!.....it's been a long time since the US, or the UK for that matter, have played with the "big boys".

Again - then what? Hezbollah will pick up where Assad leaves off. Then when we take them out al Qaeda takes over and they hate us. How is taking Assad out going to make things better? How can it actually make things worse? Not saying leave the tyrant to keep killing. But what your saying is first get him and wait…if more let them off get them too. Then keep getting them until they are all cleaned out.

What about helping the refugees, evacuating all citizens, and just let them kill each other since this war is between these groups?

What proof is there that Assad used the chemical weapons on his people? Let's use a little thing called logic. Who is more likely to use them on the civvies. A leader who knows that if he did something like this would be inviting people to invade his nation. Or a group who has a leader that eats the heart of his victim that knows what America would do if people were gassed.

I think the USA should mind their own business.
How does America know for sure that the Syrian Government used Chemical Weapons?
I believe Assad when he says that the rebels are responsible so let his Government
take care of this in any way they see fit.
Besides, what business is it of America to go around, ordering a Country that is fighting a War
within it's own Country?
Syria is not threatening the World so let them fight it out in their way.

The World does not belong to America and they need to learn that any country which has tried to rule
the World, has failed. The Romans failed. Hitler failed.
What is America going to do if Syria's Allies decide to attack them?
Russia could and probably will destroy most of America.
For once America, why don't you try and sort out your own problems instead of the Worlds problems?
You cannot even take care of your own people so what makes you think that you can take care of the World.?
I am British and for once, I am glad we gave you the middle finger on this.
I think America is about to the put the nail in her own coffin.

Of course! Assad must go. No other way. It just has to happen here.

In fact, it's so urgent, it'll be done toda.... Errr... I mean tomor....errr.. Well, next week perhaps? Oh heck. It's not urgent at all. It still has to happen though, because they said so!

.... Just a question? How can something be wrong and urgent enough to HAVE to kill people over....but so casual in need? Well, it can just be penciled into the schedule as time permits????

This is Hubris at it's greatest. I'm flabbergasted.

He maybe all that you say he is , and he may be an udesirable..
but it is not for other leaders to take out undesirables unless
they are a direct threat to ones population.

The West really needs to get out the mindset that we have the right
to go about the world judging and removing undesriables.

It is not our business and we should keep our noses out.
