OBAMA WILL SEEK AUTHORIZATION FROM CONGRESS FOR MILITARY ACTION AGAINST SYRIA

President Barack Obama said that the United States "should take military action against Syrian targets" in a Rose Garden address Saturday. However, he said he would seek congressional authorization when federal lawmakers return from recess.

The president appealed for congressional leaders to consider their responsibilities and values in debating U.S. military action in Syria over its alleged chemical weapons use."Some things are more important than partisan differences or the politics of the moment," he said. I thought this might happen...The united States has just blinked in the war of words in the Syrian conflict. Nobody wanted to see the United Sates involved in this matter...Well, not many in the U.S. anyway...There are of course those who would want the Americans involved there. This also shows the United States is not the super power they once were who could go around the world telling everyone what they should or should not do... President Obama has passed the buck to the Senate and Congress who will overwhelmingly vote no so that will let him wiggle out of his previous comments about crossing a red line... This also opens a Pandora's box of sorts when it comes to the acceptable use of weapons of mass destruction....
