Snowden: UK government now leaking documents about itself

The Independent this morning published an article - which it repeatedly claims comes from "documents obtained from the NSA by Edward Snowden" - disclosing that "Britain runs a secret internet-monitoring station in the Middle East to intercept and process vast quantities of emails, telephone calls and web traffic on behalf of Western intelligence agencies.

An intresting turn of events. As stated in the article the Independent has never published any sensitive information in regards to the NSA. That is the remit of the Guardian.
Snowden has stated that he has never worked with any journalists from the Independent.

"It appears that the UK government is now seeking to create an appearance that the Guardian and Washington Post's disclosures are harmful, and they are doing so by intentionally leaking harmful information to The Independent and attributing it to others. The UK government should explain the reasoning behind this decision to disclose information that, were it released by a private citizen, they would argue is a criminal act."

this was always the next logical step given how things have gone so far. the government will not hesitate to leak documents that are harmful on purpose if it gives them the pointy finger to be able to go "look look! SEE! WE TOLD YOU SO! this is all for your own good!"

Know what would be a breath of fresh air? Someone who's in a position of authority within these surveillance programs to just accept that they were caught out for being the slime bags they truly are

But no, instead we now get more behind the scenes slime baggery

Actually, I think the reason this inrformation ahs come to light, is down to playing the numbers.

Chances are, this information was more than likely considered highly probable to leaked by another "Snowden" character.

So rather than waiting for the next whistle blower and subsequent backlash from the general public being kept in the dark, it probably made more sense to inform the public.

So now, the public will think there is transparency between its government and it people.

Or..

Secrets are only as powerful as the people keeping them....wonder what they are holding back which made this information deemed acceptable to be made public?

Wonder if Snowden can nail the Independent for libel? lol It's kind of ludicrous the lengths that they are going to discredit and discomfit the people involved with the original NSA leaks. UK is really making itself look bad but then again, my government hasn't behaved in a very mature fashion either in this matter.

I know its difficult Revealing information without upsetting the Greys. But This has to be done.
