Obama On Egypt: ‘We Don’t Take Sides’

Well I'm glad our president has made up his mind and put his foot down finally !!

CHILMARK, Mass. (CBSDC/AP) — President Barack Obama is calling for an end to the violence in Egypt a day after 525 people were killed in protests across the country.

Speaking from Martha’s Vineyard Thursday, the president strongly condemned security forces going after supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.

“America cannot determine the future of Egypt, that’s a task for the Egyptian people,” Obama said. “We don’t take sides.”

I feel better knowing President Obama is making the right decisions for all of us.

I'm glad he knows what to do in the face of crisis.

Obama said that, due to the violence, the United States will cancel its bi-annual joint-military exercise with Egypt next month. He added that Egyptians blaming the U.S. for the violence will not help Egypt achieve the democracy it deserves.

Hmm...and this announcement after the son of the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood claims they have evidence that will land Obama in jail...wonder if this is just a coincidence?

I am confident that President Obama took that into consideration.

He always thinks everything through and acts in our best interests.

No, we don't... nor should we.

I have known neighbors who have gone out of their way to make life hell. Their reasoning was that their opinion and views superseded others because they... well, saw themselves as being above all around them.

dog barks too loud? You have a flag in your yard? You place a Manger Scene at Christmas?

Never mind that you own the property, pay the taxes on it... these types assume a place in your life.

Egypt is in turmoil but... we should NOT be the nosy, intrusive neighbor.

We don't take sides but, we are not going to call this coup so we can keep the Egyptian military in our back pocket to remove the next regime we don't like. Thats the way we work in Egypt we will pretend to deal with whomever is in power but, at the same time have the ability to remove them whenever we need to. Maybe not the best things for the Egyptians but, it serves our interests. Just would be nice if they would just come out and say that.
