As a former smoker I get it. Your right to smoke if you choose shouldn't be taken away. However, it wasn't until I quit that I realized how far the smoke travels and how badly smoker stink. I never knew I smelled that bad. I think if I knew these two things I would have been more respectful. I always thought i was staying out of range of people, but I know now I wasn't. It's like the person who wears WAY too much perfume. My husband is seriously allergic to smoke of both kinds. It s only an issue when people smoke in a place he can't get away from ( mostly directly in front of a store entrance) that it becomes an issue.

So I will continue to respect your right to smoke, but please respect mine and my husbands (I say mine because it makes me want one) right to be able to choose to get away from it. For example blocking the path from point A to point B.

Edit to say, that goes for people who douse themselves in perfume too.

I grow my own now. When you buy the E-cigs, those doses of nicotine are processed somewhere.

And that means...what? that the e-cigs have something in them besides nicotine? and maybe that 'somewhere' is China?? And 'maybe' that 'something' is antifreeze???

I didn't say you meant that, but THAT is what the anti-everything zealots are saying to brainwash the public into thinking this too is bad.

So now even a SMOKER that is trying to argue for our rights and freedoms, without even meaning to, is fighting with the anti-zealots.

See how insidious the brainwashing is???

Well I guess I will jump in one more time to say this:

Don't want to be exposed to tobacco smoke - don't go to places where people smoke!

At the end of the day - not matter how rational the arguements of the zealots may seem and no matter how much bought and paid for "science" they produce. Here is the end result"

1. The disease burden of no disease has decreased as a result of a now 50 year old anti-smoking campaign. In fact, our children have gotten sicker and sicker with asthma and allergies, autism and ADD type disorders. In fact, our children are so medicated, they barely have the time to be children anymore.

2. People are living in fear of death and disease. We are the baby boomer generation. We were born to smoking mothers and living in smoking households. We grew up and became smokers ourselves. To date - the baby boomers are the longest lived and healthiest generation the world has ever known. This is not due to exposure to tobacco but rather to public health for their services in cleaning up the water supply with chlorine, treating sewage instead of just discharging to sewers, vaccines and antibiotics. Our food supply is also cleaner, of higher quality and quantity. Despite being born with a life expectancy of about 65-70 years, most of us will live to 75 - 85 years and more of us will live to see 100 than any previous generation. And yet....we live in constant fear of death and disease!

3. Smokers are being dehumanized. We are called filthy, stinking, selfish, stupid. We are told we deserve to be financially raped. We are not fit to socialize anywhere in public. We don't even deserve the dignity of shelter from the elements that the laws demand we must provide to dogs. Our old people have frozen to death in the snow. We are being evicted from our homes. Denied equal custody of our children and the right to nurture adopted and foster children. We are being denied necessary medical treatment. And should we become dependent on the state, in a hospital, mental ward, prison or hospice, we are subjected to forced medical treatment in the form of smoking cessation.

4. The next step after dehumanization, the step that always follows after dehumanization ....is violence. We are now seeing laws being passed to ban smoking in public and state parks. There is no intention on the part of the government to enforce these laws. Instead, citizens are being encouraged to "confront" smokers.

There are commercials and posters that subtly encourage such violence (one showed a smokers punching himself in the face). I have seen smoke portrayed as snakes and cockroaches in commercials and in posters.

Please understand - it is NOT smokers who are selfish. It is anti-smoking zealots! They are the ones who demand that ALL hospitality venues MUST be non-smoking. And once they succeed, they then demand that ALL outdoor spaces MUST be non-smoking. These demands are not based on health. If the public wanted hospitality venues to be non-smoking, then they would have stopped patronizing the hospitality venues. They would have voted with their dollar. And the hospitality venues would have responded by making their venue non-smoking.

These changes were demanded only by the zealots.

However, I have studied my history. There is a 400 year history of anti-smoking zealotry. Smokers have been executed, imprisoned and had hot lead poured down their throat. In the era of prohibition, it is little known but an anti-smoking zealot by the name of Lucille Gaston Page. She managed to get tobacco sales banned in 17 states. She even ran for president based on her popularity. Ironically, she died of throat cancer, just like the Marlboro man.

And within 10 years, the laws were all repealed! And smoking become more popular then ever!

Don't forget Hitler was an avid anti smoker, who contracted Parkinsons, one of the diseases it protects against. Which is ironic as Stalin and Churchill continued puffing for many years after him.

Pardon,

Read your own post. You said smoking DOESN'T CAUSE asthma. Its methylation of the dna in utero that CAUSES asthma. Ergo, we both agree. smoking DOESN'T CAUSE asthma!

I asked you a flat out question (oh thou of superior intelligence, knowledge and experience).

The question is: Then why has the rate of asthma INCREASED despite the DECREASE in smoking mothers?

I posted a ream of data on asthma from California. Please review it carefully and explain to me, why in a state, where only 13 % of the population smokes, the rate of asthma and asthma attacks has not decreased?

You came back and told me I am still too stupid to understand you.

Keep it simple so that even an idiot like me can understand.

Answer the question.

The question is: Then why has the rate of asthma INCREASED despite the DECREASE in smoking mothers?

I am not interested in anything else you have to day until you answer the question!

The question is: Then why has the rate of asthma INCREASED despite the DECREASE in smoking mothers?

Have I made myself clean enough here. I know that superior intellect sometimes has a difficulty in communicating with monkeys like myself. Is there some other way I could make my question clearer?

Let us also no forget that what Hitler did to smokers is the exact same thing that anti-smokers are doing now! The same bans on public transportation, on park benches, on the sale of tobacco to woman etc etc etc. All based on the theory that passive smoke causes disease in exposed non-smokers.

Now just how did he know that passive smoking causes diseases in non-smokers. I thought all that passive-smoking research that was done in the 1960s and 1970s is what finally proved it?????

The zealots have come for the Sexualy liberated, You could be classed as moraly insane and sent to the Asylum if you were a Prostitute at the turn of the last century, not to mention being homosexual. then they came for the Drinkers, then they came for the Mary Jane smokers, then they came for the Nicotine smokers. The fact is that they are getting off on some sort of "negative denial buzz" Before that they even closed down coffee houses as places of perdition. Zealots just don't like people enjoying themselves period.

There is some truth to what you say. However, this being a conspiracy forum, I want to give you another take
on what is politically correct behavior as established by 'the control freaks'. Have you noticed that while they
are on this anti-nicotine agenda they seem to be saying almost all kinds of sex is OK and slowly but surely are legalizing pot. And why do you think they are doing that while trying to demonize nicotine? I'll tell you why. Nicotine while somewhat tranquilizing is also a fairly strong brain stimulant and I remember reading an article a long time ago where scientists had shown it actually improved IQ - makes people think. On the other hand marijuana and taking Viagra with the warning about an erection lasting more than 4 hours being dangerous, and in fact
pushing an agenda of sexual obsession for the masses is hardly conducive to intelligent thinking - But isn't that
the agenda? - Keep people dumb. The mild brain stimulant and thinking man's drug nicotine does not fit the agenda while sexual obsession and marijuana does. But not everyone is falling for the guardians of your well being agenda. As was once said a long time ago:

"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time".

-Abraham Lincoln

Yeh people are far more dumber these days, I watch some of the quiz programs, and just about pick who can answer certain questions depending on the age of the contestants, general knowledge mostly. With it being just about totally missing in under 25s.Some don't realise that milk comes from cows. A few years back you had smoke filled rooms. Now they are bringing in laws to make public places smoke free, when the diesel traffic pumps its way by. I think as a society were pretty well on our way to its use by date, and the laws are just being brought in for the sake of one special interest group or another, just flopping obout.
Where I live they are starting on cats now, in a few years they will wonder why we have a rat problem. The general IQ. is falling along with the smoking ban, I wonder if that's a coincidence as well?

It's not the tobacco or the nicotine that kills smokers. It's the hundreds of chemicals they add to enhance flavor, improve safety, and maximize profits.

And it's allowed because it pads the coffers of those who allow it...the government and big pharma. It's pretty obvious that big tobacco is in cahoots with big pharma and the government and like poisoning us with their "tastier," "safer,"and "improved" products and then taxing us for our bad habits. It's a cash cow for them all and they have each others' backs.

The government and big pharma protect big tobacco because they make money off the poison ka-ching $$. Big pharma loves you sick ka-ching $$ and the government loves to tax you ka-ching $$.

Tobacco and probably big pharma lobbyists in return stuffs the pockets of lawmakers for the protection, all the while also using social pressure and mindwashing to ostracize and use others to ostracize and shame and vilify the very people they are robbing blind, people who are purchasing a perfectly legal product. Clever racket. They should get these people on RICO.

Logically illogical. Illogically logical.

That's true, in Russia at one time tobacco had to be kept chilled because it would get mould due to the lack of additives. But as far as growing tobacco goes it is quite easy, the processing is slightly more difficult. But I came across what seemed to be a French method. You get a big pot, add molasses honey and whisky or brandy then water, heat it up to simmer, and simmer the tobacco leaves for twenty minutes, then take them out and dry them, then they are ready for smoking. You can then shred or compress. Smokers are really getting ripped off for something that is simpler than growing tomatoes.

I personally loved your answer, a couple of weeks my grandson had a new baby his first, the midwife told them don't let anyone smoke hold the baby for at least 30 mins after finishing smoking as the chemicals will harm the baby, i'm a smoker and felt really angry his mother is also a smoker too, I would hate to tell the parents of what is in the babies water and in the air it breaths, however i did stick to their demands and enjoyed holding my great great grand daughter
