Typical responses from the expected same group of members. This order was signed over a year ago, its designed to make it look as if Obama is doing something for the black community, when in reality it accomplishes little.

Peace, proceed with the right wing circle jerk thread.

You expected them to actually read the EO? I also enjoy reading articles that massage my ego or view of the world even if it makes me angry, there's something very satisfying in moral outrage... but then I like to go and check that I'm getting that endorphin release justifiably or just getting satisfaction from ideological porn.

Reading the thread would show you that they have not only read the XO, but have quoted it and discussed various aspects of it.

So you guys have a racist president and we have a racist royal family. They can see much of the world is now against them and so they want to start a race war to get us to split and then we have less power as it'll be whites against blacks. They are playing checkers game here and we need to stay together whatever colour you are, we need to be strong. Also if you look at the Freemasons logo it has a black and white checkered board on the floor. This could be what they have wanted from the beginning, a race war.

I read the thread, I stand by my post. If it was read, it certainly wasn't understood.

First of all, these are goals, not laws. These committees will be working with schools to help figure out how to keep black kids in schools, and help them to succeed and move towards college/university.

Is there anything in this E.O. that you like? Anything at all? It's a really long executive order, with lots of points. Should we scrap the whole thing? Let things keep going exactly as they are? Would that be better for the black community?

I am really trying to be patient and abide by the T & Cs here, but you guys are really testing me.

Cmon now, can't you handle a little hard debate? Personally since the Federal Government has stuck their nose in our Educational System, it has failed miserably at the Grade and High School Levels and has allowed the costs at Colleges to just blow through the roof to the point where most people really can't afford it. I routinely see people in the their mid 30's if not in their 40's STILL paying student loans. That's crazy.

I'm all for tackling the problems at all schools and especially in our urban areas where it's painfully obvious that things aren't working right. To setup more panels and study groups to solve imaginary reasons for why schools aren't working is flawed logic to me. Does it really take the Greatest Nation on Earth over 4 decades to figure out what's wrong with our education systems and implement appropriate changes???? Before anyone asks, it's not a spending problem, we spend plenty on education. We lack a clear vision of what works and even when we see examples of schools that do well in spite of things, we STILL don't try to emulate those schools and practices.

To me, this order and all the other ones on Education are just a dog and pony show. Every President says he is the "Education President" and still our overall education standing in the World continues to fall.

Anyone else see the problem with that?? We really don't even admit we have a crisis in Education and now we are looking to have Immigrants come to this country to fill high skilled jobs because American Schools aren't putting out enough qualified applicants for those highly skilled jobs.

It's just a mess. We need a real overhaul of the Education System, but I don't think either party has the political backbone to do it.

Excuse me, I have to go watch the Kardashians and Teen Mom now.....................

Guaranteeing minorites equal OPPORTUNITY is a great thing. This is what Bush did.

Its trying to guarantee equal RESULTS- aka liberalism aka socialism that is backward and insane.

My statement stands. The Exec. Order from the OP pertains to one particular race, black Americans.
The other one you refer to here is a separate EO that refers to an ethnic group in particular.

Is there another specific EO for Asians?

Another pandering to stars and flag by the OP i see.

If you go back to pre 2008, some threads already condemn Obama(before he even did anything), the same people still speak against him, so its obvious hate for something he is(:lol
, whatever he does, its bad, its already on their mind, just like the Republican control everything in the house with their majority number...

"oh look a democrat bill,.. it probably suck, lets not read it, throw it in the trash!"

There is no equal opportunities, its an illusion to make you feel equal. There is prejudice everywhere you go, rules are made up the majority to favour majority.

Here is a great quote that puts things in perspective...

"To head off the usual “I had obstacles too” e-mails from white people, let me add that the injustice of racism (or sexism, or discrimination against people with visible disabilities, etc.) is in ADDITION to the regular obstacles that we all face. Not only is it additional, but it is focused on a facet of being that is out of our control–we are born the way we are (or may become that way in the case of a disability). That feeling of out-of-your-control, yet personally directed injustice cannot be fully understood by majority men who are heterosexual and have no ADA-defined disabilities."

Link

I'm 43 now and this just clicked when I read the quote above as I have made the same argument in the past...I'm not throwing away my right to vote as an independent but I think it makes a great and easily to digest point.

Both sides demagog the other. Don't make it an exclusive trait to one Party or Political bent.

Do you think the problem with African American dropout rates in schools is primarily caused by being racially picked on in regards to disciplinary actions? The E.O. seems to imply that is very pressing problem and the reason for it is because other racial groups don't have enough disciplinary actions against them as the real reason for it.

Star for that. You cannot teach anyone who doesn't want to learn. Those who are not interested in dealing drugs to earn a living will live off the taxpayers dime. Some will do both.

These kids just put no value in education, or acting like they are educated.

This is just going to be another way to give blacks a free pass. All their problems are because of somebody else.

I will confess that this EO (from last year, btw) serves as my weekly dose of relief that my kids attend a private school. It is nearly bankrupting us. But when I see my kids' academic achievement, or read threads like this, I feel a lot better about doing without in order that my kids educate in a safe and happy learning environment.

My wife has made me promise to no longer threaten our children with public school if they let their grades fall, since it is possible after next year that they may have to go public anyway. But you ought to see the way they focus on homework when they hear us talking about whether or not public school is worth it.

Some of their friends have come to private school directly from the bowels of the public education beast. Their horror stories are WAY more credible threats than grounding ever could be.

No wonder private school kids out-perform public school kids: they are afraid of ending up there, too.

I guess it's true when they say Obama is the most divisive president in our history.

He really divides the racists from the non-racists, I mean almost weekly there is a thread where racists crawl out of the woodwork to spew their venom across these boards and the worst of it all, most of the time those are the posts that receive the most praise around here.

What?
What?!
Have they lost it? I have lived in six states, half in the North and half in the South over the last 50 years.
Undisrupted education in schools is essential. If you create a problem you are expelled. Here in SC they created a special school for all those expelled from public school children. These children are not left behind but attend the school with their like minded peers. Thugs in training is what my husband calls the basket ball players that flunked school three times and are three years older than the normal kids. These kids are aggressive and mean. How and where are they going to fit into a society where there are clear rules. We all have to follow the rules and get along. These kids need to learn that they are expected to do the same. It is not a race problem it is an educational discipline problem.

Really? Amazing, that a person's opinion of this ONE MAN defines absolutely whether or not they are a racist.

Not whether they welcome all persons to the marketplace of ideas
Not whether they treat each person as an individual, rather than as a denizen of a particular interest-group
Not whether they will help a stranger or someone "other" at personal risk or sacrifice.
Not whether they will cross a social boundary and endure the censure of their own group to extend an open hand to an outsider.

No, the measure of your racism is purely and simply based on what you think of this one man.

Therefore, what you think of O matters more than how you actually behave.

How sad.

This is insanity!

Please someone tell me this is not real and just an attempt to stir up controversy.

If this is legitimate, then without a doubt we have racist as POTUS.
