And EVERYONE in the system knows they are a joke so people just let the batteries die. As a matter of fact some sex offenders have reoffended with the ankle monitor on and went on for years not caught by anyone.



Why do you think these sex offenders: a) have a GPS device to begin with and b) why they intentionally and repeatedly allow the batteries to die (or cut it off)? They may be 'only' parole violations but the implication is severe.

Its all about money, the police get more money to "monitor" the GPS device and as long as batteries die and set off alarms then the police can pretend to do something about it to justify the money that keeps flowing to them. Keep in mind that not one study has shown that any of this sex offender registry nonsense has actually done anything to keep people from re-offending nor has it lowered crime rates.
