OK I checked it out. It looks like any other NGO, however their supposed focus is on journalistic advocacy.

Here is what they say about themselves:

About Us
Information is an agent of change. Since its inception, back in 1964, IPS has believed in the role of information as a precondition for lifting communities out of poverty and marginalization. This belief is reflected in our historic mission:

“giving a voice to the voiceless”– acting as a communication channel that privileges the voices and the concerns of the poorest and creates a climate of understanding, accountability and participation around development, promoting a new international information order between the South and the North.

The statutes of the IPS International Association provide a formal organisational framework for carrying out our mission.

To fulfil this very important mission, IPS has developed a three-pronged strategy that is reflected in its three main areas of work:

Providing news and content: producing stories and analyses, which explain how events and global processes affect individuals and communities, especially the marginalised and voiceless.

Capacity-building: empowering journalists, media organisations and civil society to be better able to communicate effectively by leveraging IPS’ unique character as a Southern-focused news agency, offering a different kind of training and follow-up.

Dissemination and networking: building an information bridge linking civil society, international institutions, policy-makers, donors and individual readers, to promote an ongoing dialogue about communication and development for a better world.

Because of its mission and conceptual approach, IPS has grown together with and systematically covered civil society, particularly its increasing international impact. Recognising the impact of globalisation on the South is another crucial insight that influences the way we report, build capacity and disseminate our news. This has made IPS a relevant actor within the overall development process and the main international news provider of organised civil society worldwide.

We can all get down and fully support their stated "mission", However NGO's are notorious for being intelligence fronts.

If you want I will search and find and post all of Soros's NGO's. Soros is so deep CIA it is not even funny.

Dude. Yes, the stuff happens. It happens right here too. I am not trying to negate the horrible treatment of women and children anywhere. I can't even bear to think about the child sex trade in Indonesia. It makes me ill. I am not saying that these horrible things don't happen.

I am a woman and a mother. I am most sensitive to these crimes.

I am taking issue with your OP that stated clearly, "another reason to write off the middle east".

That is my issue. You want to stand up and fight against the exploitation of women and children worldwide. I am right behind you with a torch. But, if you want to single a segment of the population out in order to blame it all on them. No, I won't go along.

So provide me with some reasons not to, something that inspires me to believe it isn't worth writing them off.

Thornblood, I can't help you. I want you so bad to see how you are being manipulated into focusing on something else that is not the problem. But, I can't. That is a transition you will have to make yourself.

Those brown skin people are not the enemy. Our enemies reside much closer.

I was there once so I understand.

I hope you find your way out.

The left right paradigm is a ruse.

You are fighting your brothers and sisters when we should be joining forces against the real bad guys.

You will have to take your own path.

Good luck.

Ha ha. You are cute.

I don't even know where to start??

Here is just an idea that I am gonna run by you: The problem is BIG, it is systemic. It involves the controlling and manipulation of people by establishing "sides".

I know you have heard it before. I am not going to introduce a new concept to you Thorneblood.

They divide and conquer.

They use so many resources.

This is an adventure you must take.

But I will tell you a story about me. As boring as it is.

Screw it, I can't tell the story cuz it's boring as fug
But it was how I finally came out of that "Oh this other party is gonna save us".

I know you are smart. Please don't take as long as I did to figure it out.

Peace Out

Being that much of the Middle East is a very closed society, just how do you expect to get a whole lot of sourced information. There are some women who escape and tell their stories, but I have watched people blow those off as fake as well. Or, she deserved it which is worse.

I lived in the Middle East from 1978 until 1983. I know exactly what they think of women there, and it's a little lower than their dogs in many homes, but not all. It's all about males there, and women are expected to do whatever the males want including playing with their young son's genitals to make him happy, I am not exaggerating. If a girl is raped, it's her fault. If a girl does not like her father's choice of husband too bad.

And to think, they want to bring Sharia law to a town near you! Imagine when you have to dress in black in the Florida sun while the men wear swim trunks and nice white clothes. The ones who escape and don't try to live like they are still in their home country tend to be the most balanced and not so misogynistic. I have known quite a few and dated my Econ professor who was Iranian after I graduated from University. He escaped Iran in the 1970's. The clergy destroyed Iran. It was an amazing country at one time, but no more. Women are no longer free like they once were there. So, for all the 'it's a lie and propaganda" you have no proof the story is false. It's very hard to get sourced info out of that area.

They won't be imposing Sharia law in a town near me because most men love to see barely clothed women.
Sex sells, Sharia doesn't.

Oh, I see. You subscribe to a little different type of exploitation. You like your women scantily clothed.

Hey what about those "dancing boys" in Afghanistan that all of our diplomats love to watch and...well you know...visit them after show.

Oh, yeah, it is only exploitation if it is perpetrated by someone from the "Middle East".

You want to know where all the baby porn comes from?? It is Malaysia.

I guess it is just those damn "muzzies" that are sexually deviant and archaic??

LOL
You really think American men are going to stand up for Sharia law covering every woman from head to toe in their own country?
Do you really think women will?

PS. Yes i like naked women. Especially Middle Eastern women

Blame my penis if you like.

Edit:
More "Propaganda " about child brides

LOL. So you see the administration of Sharia law a threat in the United States?? You think it is coming to a town near you??

I don't give a heck about your sexual needs. You should really keep that to yourself. You are giving up all of your weaknesses. I already know how easy it would be to get anything I want from you. You are simple minded. You are a mark. If you had anything of value, which I doubt, I would have had you signed it over to me within a month,

What do you think of that analysis??

I actually believed that you lived in the middle east, until I read your BS on the Sharia Law crap. For starters, the BS you posted over there simply isn't true. Even back in the 60's, women were respected members of society. They were mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts and grandmothers, nieces... etc...

How can you possibly explain the psyche of a culture that hates their own kin? Please, answer this question honestly and without any racism. Everything that can be said for Islam can be said about everything else. Everything that can be said about Muslims can be said about anyone else. Remember.
