EADS is to ditch the Eurocopter, Cassidian (if you ever heard of it) and EADS brand names and trade under the names Airbus, Airbus Defence & Space and Airbus Helicopters in future.

While this does give a unified brand name to the companies, it seems odd that the name Airbus should apply to helos and stealth drones too!

Maybe its just me and the fact the the very name Airbus was originally a BEA airliner requirement to which Hawker Siddeley designed what was to become the A300 all those years ago, but my how its all changed now.

I can see why they're doing it. Earlier this year for various reasons I asked a few people involved in engineering who EADS is. They didn't know. They knew who Airbus was however...

Yes, that's a very good point, most people will be almost as familiar with the word Airbus as they are with Spitfire, Ford or even Pepsi. It does make sense.
