Earlier this year I joined facebook.I avoided it somewhat at first and then slowly started
checking everything out.I discovered this game and sadly have to admit that I have become
somewhat addicted.Candy crush has been taking over my online activities.I find myself
humming its strange, carnival like music.I keep seeing the bright-colored candies floating
in my head.
I succumb to its siren call and keep playing over and over again.I screamed the first time
I ran out of lives and agonized until I had gotten more.Even when I had advanced to other
levels,I kept going back to the lower ones. There was always someone I had to outscore.
I must play and will do so as long as it is free.

As soon as people from like 20 years ago started asking to be my friend I deleted my facbook account. Also seeing my friends constantly looking at there phones like its Heroin was crazy to me. One of my friends would text his wife who was sitting right next to him at my house.

What is this world coming to??

I too stand back from the crowd and observe their behavior. You have to wonder where it's all headed. One side of me sees the good that present tech could do if used in the right spirit but sadly, we value trinkets and cheep thrills ahead of that. We've taken the hypnotic programming of television, added interaction and packaged it into a mobile device...Our genius is incredible! Unfortunately, the values we hold as a human race, will shape this new technology. If I give you a hammer, you can choose to hammer nails...Or!

Very insightful post. I dragged my feet about getting a cell phone for years and finally my wife and I went ahead and got iphones recently. I don't use mine at all really, but my wife is burning it up. The only reason I did it was because we got rid of the bundled package with landline and cable. Now we just have internet and get TV (what little we watch) streamed from the internet. I got my home number ported to my cell because there were so many places I didn't want to have to search and change my contact number. Funny thing is, this thing just sits in my pocket silent all day and I'm paying all this money for it. Well, the spam calls that used to come to the house I get now on my cell.

I tiried FB once or twice and I just don't get it, I know how to use it I grew up on the internet, I don't understand the fascination. Why people think I want to see pics of their ugly kids or boring vacation is what I don't understand.

Same with twitter. What makes people think I give a damn what they are doing every second of the day?

I'm not that old so that isn't the reason. I enjoy computers and I get along with most people I just don't get into the 'social networking' thing does that mean I'm weird? (Is this site a social network site?
)

So op I don't know about your game but I play a bit on Pogo.

Good you are seeing it now! Apparently FB game addiction is more common than posting to it at times. When I hear of that in real life, I warm them of MMORPGs. Talking about never leaving the computer, once you go MMO you never go back

I get exactly where you're coming from. I feel the same way, I don't give 2 cents about all that garbage. My wife is all wrapped up in it though, and I guess I see how she likes it. She has certain people she interacts with on there and it takes the place of actually talking to the people.

Massive multiplayer online role playin game. Or MMORPG.

Mamabeth, just stop playing.
You are only "addicted" because you keep allowing yourself to play.
Unless, of course, you enjoy wasting time away staring at a screen aimlessly.

The market of the game is to lure people in with droning music and colors.
There is absolutely no point in playing the game, as it is meaningless.

Or you can just carry on.

What is the point of reading a good book? How meaningful is that, sitting there staring a a page of text... How meaningless was my grandfather's time spent in his garage woodshop making project after project that had no real value, except to pass the time doing something he enjoyed.

The problem is, you can take your argument and apply it to virtually any leisure activity that humans pursue, however I've noticed this logic escapes most people when it comes to video games. They are pointless, well so is board games, cards, bingo, crossword puzzles, brain teasers etc etc. So what? Recreation is something we all do, what makes your form of it soooo superior that you can smugly label video games utterly pointless?

I wouldnt say that gaming is completely pointless,I won the North American World of Tanks championships (me and my clan I should say) and I got a full expense trip to Moscow Russia out of it...The only expense out of pocket for me was the cost of a passport.
