Is this a Pro Fox News thread?

Fox News is the worst! Hopefully their ratings will plummet too.

So let me get this straight ?

The only news organization that can't pander is Fox News ?

CNN,MNBC can pander all they want!

And Alternative media is just as bad.

Internet media is just as bad.

Hell at least when MSM messes up they get called out on it, but the alternativ/internet scene?

Nothing

And Alternative/internet DOES SCREW UP if not worse.

Basically all the Fox news haters are saying is people are too dumb to make up their own minds, so LIKE Fox News they spin a narrative to fit THEIR AGENDA.

Astonishing so many people have contempt of their fellow citizen.

Given the fact most Fox New Haters don't even watch it they need to slow that troll or they can keep linking that 'fair and balanced' Alternative news sites pushing an agenda.

So what do you think folks? Americans aren't as stupid as previously thought, now are they? They know a good case of Pravda propaganda when they see it. All I have to say is that CNN and MSNBC better wake up or they will be out of business in no time. The American dollar speaks multitudes.

I am a big fan of alternative media and news sources, but are you seriously suggesting that Americans aren't stupid because they prefer Fox news to CNN or MSNBC?

Furthermore, Are you claiming Fox News isn't part of the MSM? Maybe I just read this particular quote wrong? Aren't they just left/right mouth pieces who ultimately further the same agenda?

Maybe I'm completely missing what you are trying to say here...

You know I gave this some thought and no, FOX is not part of the "evil" MSM, as we know it. They have their own little place in cable land. One where truths are told to offset all the propaganda. They are our only hope for the truth getting out. So yeah I am suggesting that Americans are not stupid for watching FOX.

Whoa.... are you serious? For reals?

Ohhhhh EMMMM GGGGEEEE!

FoxNews is just as biased against the administration as the others are toward.

Even if one believes an anti-democrat stance is correct, it doesn't diminish the slant that FoxNews reports with. They are not objective and put out just as much propaganda to play to their audience as MSNBC does to theirs.

Something to consider:

FoxNews gets these high ratings in part because they are not competing with others for their audience. For a Republican, conservative, or someone critical of the White House, the only place to hear like minded commentary is Fox.

On the other hand, MSNBC and CNN are competing with one another for the same audience. The liberal audience is split among a few channels and conservatives have just the one. Hence a higher market share for Fox.

A better indicator of a smarter America would probably be the percentage of viewers who watch both going up. The intelligent political thinker will seek to hear both sides of the debate. Watching only Fox will warp your truth just like watching only MSNBC.

Fox is corporate run media. I take it you have heard of Newscorp and Rupert Murdoch. The Sun tabloid is the most read newspaper in the UK owned by Newscorp. It is in no way considered alternative.

I guess to conservatives the fact that Fox has played the underdog role during the Obama admin, somehow means its an alternative source of media. How bizarre.

Fox always play themselves as the media, banging on and on about the "liberal media", all the while boasting that they(a conservative network) dominate the airwaves

I find more and more I am listening to RT (Russia Today), keeping in mind that they too have an agenda but it is a fresh perspective. Check out "Breaking the Set" with Abby Martin or the "Keiser Report" with Max Keiser and Stacy Hubert. .

That AND have we forgotten the hacking scandals in the UK? But the sames company that owns Fox News we're supposed to believe is not only not an MSM outlet but also honest?

It isn't said for nothing that mainstream news is little more than entertainment... and Fox is practically the mascot. The notion that the channel's higher ratings is cause for rejoice amuses me.

Obviously you are the minority on this one. So I say yeah that Fox, the one everyone watches.
You are a prime example of why every one believes the propaganda that CNN is the top news station out there. So step aside, let us enjoy our celebratory party, and let the numbers talk.

I just have the compulsion to make the observation that DeadSeraph's comment received a heck of a lot of stars (enough to warrant the whole +# because it went beyond the individual star listing) and your comments have been receiving one. Who is the minority here on this one?

Now, is Fox News mainstream? The definition of mainstream, courtesy of dictionary.com, is "the principal or dominant course, tendency, or trend". According to wikipedia, its opening definition is "the common current thought of the majority." Fox has almost always outstripped all other news venues in terms of viewership in the US in having the mass majority of viewers. Wait a second...that's the very definition of mainstream.

Sources:
dictionary.reference.com...
en.wikipedia.org...

You're engaging in a terrific logical fallacy here called confirmation bias.

Here's the definition of that one: en.wikipedia.org...

Fox news' ratings are only as high as they are because:

1. They're the station of choice in many public venues like airports and doctor's offices, for reasons that escape me but perhaps they've bought the coverage in the airports.

2. They have massively large graphics and enough going on visually to keep even the most attention-span deficient watching and work well for those who can't hear the commentators for whatever reason. Which leads us to:

3. They're also the choice in many nursing homes; again, they're loud, the graphics are large and easily read, and then there's the

4. Bimbos posing as newscasters, with the ever-ready short skirts, knees aimed right at the camera and plenty of no-nothing brain dead men watching, hoping and salivating the little Gretchen (or whoever) will cross her knees a little less subtly next time.

While I can't countenance CNN anymore (what's with Wolf Blitzer 24/7???) it used to be slightly decent source for breaking news. MSNBC has some stellar newspersonalities in the person of Chris Hayes and sometimes, Rachel Maddow although she loses me regularly on some topics. Lawrence O'Donnell has his detractors but the guy wrote some great stuff for West Wing and often has a wonderful commentary (yeah, I'm a liberal bordering on anarchist, so?); some of the other MSNBC people are good but I rarely watch them. I prefer to get my news from all over the place, not one source, and there's an anti-Drudge site out there that's not leaning so far right as to be obnoxious.

If you want a discussion of the intelligence of the American public, George Carlin had it nailed.

Ehh. Ideologues don't really care about business. Other than using it as a vehicle for their ideology and propaganda. They'll likely do something to salvage it simply for the sake of retaining control over a tool of mass influence. The actual profit motive doesn't affect them in the traditional way. They ARE interested in profits but only because money is power at this point.

They're socialists, apparently. It seems odd that some of the biggest companies are owned and operated by people who seem to have strong socialist sympathies but that seems to be the way things are.

I let out a hearty laugh when the OP said that because Americans are watching Faux news more than the other corporate 'news' outlets, this proves that they hate being lied to.

If anything, it shows that they do like being lied to. A lot.

Let go of your childish, partisan leanings and wake up: they are all lying. Just because Fox gears towards your political leanings doesn't mean that they aren't as bad as their co conspirators MSNBC and CNN.

Since when is Fox News (a.k.a. Faux News) not part of the mainstream media? They practically define corporate media, political bias, and censorship. A right wing/conservative bias is still a bias, and is as bad as the left wing/liberal bias.

When people realize that both liberals and conservatives are really players for the same team, playing a game that is NOT in your best interest, then maybe we might have some progress.

Here is the thing, it does not matter if it is Fox News or MSNBC or CNN. It is all still part of the lame stream media. These "news" programs are for little more than entertainment. If you want to see what real news reporting looks like, check sources outside of the country. Be picky though because this idea of news as entertainment is not an isolated idea.
