I ended up here because of my love for the paranormal and cryptozoology ( a word I learned here ), but the front page is loaded with politically motivated threads and in the beginning I didn't know how to navigate through all the fluff and I ended up in one of those, drunk and in a bad mood because of what I viewed as myopic view points on a certain subject and I got into an argument, I ended up in a back and forth with you, and you were understanding, calm and just so damn nice that you not only saved me from being banned, but made me realize that other people feel just as strongly about something, even opposite of me.

No offense to any other mod here, but you Heff are my favorite, because, even though I rarely post, you actually impacted my real life with that exchange. You allowed me to see other people's opinions as just that, no different than mine.

Oh ho, NOW it all makes sense, we have a Banker ( elitist ), a cop ( militarist enforcer ) and an ex Marine ( Uh, another militarist enforcer?), so ALL those threads about how ATS is cointel, we now know are true.

I have NEVER-ever said this--and I totally believe you--but: Youtube or it didn't happen. I mean how cool would it be to see THAT--Heff on Cops?!

I was once thoroughly beat up by some cops on video--dashcam--but I never made it to tv. Yeah, I deserved it, sorta, but I was all Charlie Sheen (Winning) until 3, 4, and 5 showed up...at least that's how I remember it.

Things such as this topic/post is one of the many reasons what makes this site one of my favorites. Never knew there were so many involved and deticated to this site. Pretty impressive.

We do try, amid the intentional trolling, privacy violations and death threats (yep, you read that right) that we occasionally get - all over trying to make sure a forum on the 'net is run in civil manner - sometimes its hard to be more amicable when stuff like that is going on but mercifully such things are few and far between!

There was this show back in the 70s I think ,called New York Illustrated .
You can't find it on line or DVD ,which sucks given how cool it was.
Each week focused on an issue in nyc .
My uncle was a cop in the 41st precinct ,which was the pct in the Bronx they called Fort Apache ,because it was like the wild west .
That is the pct they made the movie about,with Paul Newman .
That movie severely POed the entire pct ,given how badly they warped the truth in it btw.

In any case,one week they featured Fort Apache on New York illustrated .
My uncle is in most of it . Someone he knows found copies of the show in a college archive,of all places.
He made copies,despite it being a no no for that library .

Then later on,that episode won a frigging Emmy award. The guys who won thanked my uncle in their acceptance speech .
I was about 7 ,and I was jumping around whooping they said his name in TV .

He was retired by the time COPS was born .
