Bonnie Raitt

Enya

Don't know that anyone's music (male or female) has affected me, like hers.
Just found this one...

I would have gone with Heart, as well...but numbers of others have shown appreciation for them, too...

I can't believe nobody mentioned Nadezhda Tolokonnikova of Pussy Riot!

As long as this has turned into a boy's club masturbatory fantasy, her politics, guts and looks would have me furrowing her field for weeks...

And really, no Courtney Love? I know, she probably did waste Kurt and she's a basket case of substance/sex abuse and her private persona is perhaps even worse than her most sordid public one, but who doesn't like a hot mess once in a while?

I'm glad Kim Deal made the list a few times... she's very talented, hot and nice and can find good black market substances at 4 in the morning... too bad she and Black Francis have issues with each other, though.

Well, this IS ATS, the largest conspiracy site on the web.

That being said and this thread is about great female artists, here is Karen Carpenter of The Carpenters, singing "Calling Occupants"

Enjoy -

Some truly great female singers.
Particular favourites of mine that have already been mentioned are Polly Harvey and Janis Joplin.

But I make no apologies for posting another video of my all time favourite; Siouxsie Sioux.
Seen her numerous times, first time back in '81 I think - and she's still going strong.

Nico; not to everyone's liking but a fascinating woman.

No-one could ever say that either Siouxsie or Nico were / are great singers but they have such remarkable depth and complexity.
But Mama Cass was a brilliant singer.

Was going to leave it there, for now, but I've got to mention someone I've met quite a few times, a great person who is as strong and passionate in her beliefs today as she was 30 odd years ago - Beki Bondage.

Can't resist posting some more.

Heather Small, Lauren Hill and Dee C Lee are all worthy of a mention....but Big Maybelle had an amazing voice.

A lot of really good singers in the Northern Soul scene which was where I first heard Timi Yuro.

Martha Reeves is another great Soul singer.

Definitely the last one tonight.....the great Patti Smith, one of the most influential female artist's of all time.
