Wow, Beezer and I actually have a very similar viewpoint on something!

I mean, porn has been around since...well since people figured out how to draw naked bodies.

If I don't like a certain TV station (like one of those religious ones) .... I simply do not watch it. It isn't that hard. If I didn't want my kids to watch it, I'd monitor their activities or block the channel myself (yes you can do that). Subsequently, parents have multiple computer tools to filter and block websites.

Or, how about not having a computer in the house at all? I mean, the big, evil, scary internet is just to much of a threat to the moral fiber of our children these days!

Ironically this is a text book case of the Right's obsession with sex. I do not like porn but surely the parents or adults have a right to decide. I object to the principal of it. More nanny statism brought to you by the followers of Adam Smith (Irony of ironies).

This comparison is ridiculous. Everyone may not like olives, but it is undeniable that they are virtually harmless. Many feel that porn, on the other hand, is harmful in someway to those subjected to it, whether it be moral or psychological. So it comes down to differing opinions on the matter. Some feel porn is fine, while others don't. So it seems pretty logical to me to allow the household to choose freely whether or not they want to allow porn. And if you are truly that embarrassed to to tell the other adults in your household that you want to watch some adult movies every now and then, maybe you should reconsider your motives...

That guy's comparison is not ridiculous. Morals are subjective and I believe that olives are morally harmful.

I also believe that conspiracy theories are harmful. Same with religion. Speech concerning conspiracy theories and religions should be banned except if you opt-in to them; whereupon a national register should be created. Religions with stories depicting violence and rape -- Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc -- should be banned altogether and anyone who speaks about them should be jailed.

And if you agree or not with the proposed method of execution, that is part of the intention of this - not sure I really understand your point.

Listen as I said, I don't have a strong opinion one way or another, but all some people are going off on here is that this represents some loss of liberty which I fail to see is the case unless of course the internet contract in your house is managed by your other half who would opt out of being able to view porn (or opt in to not be able to, whatever) and you would rather have the option.

It is about adult responsibility and the fact that some people ( maybe even yourself ) are too inept or lazy
to monitor their children.

I think watching porn can be harmful but when has banning something ever worked? If anything it will make kids want it more. Building a society where people have more productive ways to entertain their boredom or experience true beauty is the answer.

I somewhat agree with Cameron on this Issue..... its definately too easy for Youngsters to watch Porn and definately there are some nasty Videos and photos online (not that i view this stuff, I just know its out there).... so definately some Sites need to get banned and those people running them get arrested and Sentenced!

But what I don't like about this is the fact that those who want to watch a normal porn movie will mos likely have to give their Name, address, D.O.B which will be very Unpopular and very nosey! Also, I think Cameron and his Cronies will come up with some 'Porn Tax' eventually......

Where there is new Technology, we will get those who use it for Nefarious means.... and usually they are pretty nasty people!

And so... If you are over 18 and living at your parents house... You need to ask your parents to opt out of the censorship otherwise... no porn , adult nature websites , over 18 games , movies ... to be honest...many sites will be affected by this... not just porn sites

Please. No internet when I was a kid, and we had no trouble finding VCR tapes or magazines. Whether it was parents or grandparents, uncles, etc. Today's kids have even more options, so this regulation won't do jack except force it to be on thumb drives.... Simply pointless. (and a huge waste of taxpayer $$$)

Same argument can be made here in Canada of the govt. making choices without our consent where the federal government has deemed everyone married for those living with an opposite sex person for over a period of a year ,it's just flipping ridiculous

Nowadays, kids have the internet on their phones, and laptops vs. desktop PCs. So easier for little Johnny to be in his room watching porn. Still though, government regulation is not the answer. Up to the parents to find ways to police it, not the government.

back in 2009-2010, I was working 12-14 hour days as a metalurgist-type-of-gig around a bunch of cave-men-type-looking pipe fitters, electricians, and welders. It was a 60 day job and it was basically a sausage fest, all men.

So here's this young 19 years old kid doing an apprenticeship with the fitters, and you wanna know what he did. He bought 500 gig external hard drives for about 100 a pop, loaded them to the brim with all the pron he saved up on his own drie, and was selling them for 375 each.

There was literally a line at his lunch table to buy these things. Once the word got out, almost everyone owned one of these things.
