Gunmen raid Iraq's Abu Ghraib and Taji jails

Armed gunmen have launched an attack on the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, hitting the facility with rocket-propelled grenades and mortars, officials say. Twelve people were killed in the attacks.

The attackers hit the facility on the western outskirts of Baghdad late on Sunday night, as well as another prison in Taji, north of the capital.

Source is Aljazeera, all searches seem to lead back to this same source.

The article states the attacks were an attempt to free prisoners, with no real additional information outside of a death count, 12 total, 3 were attackers.

Information that seems to be missing: were any of the prisoners freed, was a specific prisoner a target of this attack?

A US soldier at Taji reported the attack on another forum hours ago.
