So I'm new, I didn't make my introduction here picking on your posts/topics, so I only ask mutual respect. Debate what I say, no problem, debate why I say it, well, you know...

i apologize KnowledgeSeeker, I was too harsh.

I was all lathered up earlier in the post and I think I may have dumped on you. I didn't mean to be disrespectful to you at all. I appreciated your story but I took offense needlessly.

Forgive me, I hope we can be friends.

oh you should listen to it till the end. it's a story. but okay, it won't hurt our nation that some are sending food to other poor folks elsewhere. really, what's hurting us is the unfriendly way in which independent, non-conglomerate businesses are treated, thus making it darn near impossible to provide job opportunities and as a result, the number of poor are increasing here from lack of income. entrepreneurship is suffering as well and the poorer we are, the less we will be able to help others, elsewhere. it's a systemic merry-go-round, spiraling downwards

i realize the people are illegally sending the food, and that part is obviously not good. but i think our government should perhaps making a stipulation, that if at any time, you have a surplus of something from food stamps or other welfare programs, that you should be free to send it elsewhere. suffering and starvation is the same everywhere -- it sucks.

Kay, I get you.

I disagree with the premise of the OP. I think it is complete and utter propaganda. You can ride that train if you want. I see it is just more of the divide and conquer and how they attempt to pit us poor souls against each other when we should be aligned.

Yes, we should feed the poor. There should not be one child in this country that goes to bed with an empty stomach. And if anyone has a problem with that. Well shame on you!!!

Food stamp recipients receive 200$ a MONTH to spend on food and food only. You can't buy booze or cigarettes or even toilet paper. You can buy only FOOD. You want to piss and moan about feeding poor children...??? Shame on you.

And furthermore:How is it that everyone got so damn jaded?? You people need to ask yourself that question. You are being misled. You think it is these "welfare queens" that are causing all your problems. But see that is what their huge Octopus of communications has told you.

What was that song from the Viet Nam War?? It is still the same fight.

there's something happinin here
what it is aint exactly clear
theres a man with a gun over there
tellin me i got to beware

i think it's time we stop, children
what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

there's battle lines being drawn
nobody's right if everybody's wrong
young people speakin there minds
getting so much resistance far behind

it's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

what a field day for the heat
a thousand people in the street
singing songs that they're carrying signs
mostly say hurray for our side

it's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

Par-a-noia strikes deep
into your life it will creep
it starts when your always afraid
step out of line the man come and take you away

we better stop
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's going down x4

i'm a proponent for feeding the poor, here or anywhere. when i see this kinda thing it's just gut wrenching.

part of the problem is, when we send donations, they are being stolen by drug lords who use it to black mail the people into doing their bidding. : _ (

also some countries have islamist governments who don't want western or UN people in their country and tend to shoot them if they go there. sudan, for example, and somalia, as well. even when the people are not fair skinned, they shoot them. all i can think of to solve it is to air drop food and medicine on their villages with instructions on how to keep it safe. if we were doing that constantly, eventually the drug lords would run out of places to put it and it would lose its black mail value. also, if we don't land on the ground, the muslims won't feel compelled to shoot the relief workers.

It is a rotten world. There are so many peoples that are oppressed. No need to look any further than the Western governments for their despicable treatment. All of our "Foreign Aid" that is sent to countries is so that they can turn around and purchase armaments from American military industrial complexes. That is what it is all about. Wake up. They have been on the government tit for decades. How can you be so naive???

We spend more in military defense than all other countries spend in this entire world combined.

What is all this money and blood shed for?? It is to back up the petro-dollar and to control the world.

Those brown people on the continent of Africa....collateral damage at best, and useless chattel at the least.

We need to wake up to how all of our tax dollars are being spent to control and protect American corporate interests abroad.

They stole everything. And yet you still buy their bs stories and slam your fellow man.

It just is a testament to how well the propaganda works.

"Oh for fugs sake "they brought feces to the capitol!!!!!!!!"

Don't be a sucker. Stand up, shed that bullcrap. Be a fellow man. Walk with us. WE didn't do this. This is a machination of people that do not have your best interest at heart.

No, I get you totally. I just expounded upon your thoughts and ideas. Sometimes when you communicate in writing you miss the nuances.

Sorry, if you misunderstood me

I am not surprised to find you here in this thread. You suck up all the propaganda. You are fed the bull puckety that the elites feed you that it is all of the "entitlements" that have caused all the pain to this country.

It's hogwash. What has destroyed this country is the incestuous relationship between mega corporations, big banks, and the state.

Well, the bank bailouts and the auto industry bailouts were also a big problem and contributed some to the fiscal deficit that pales in comparison to the unfunded liabilities fiasco we currently face do to the entitlements programs. We currently sit at 90 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Because of these and the debt they have incurrered we currently are in a position that cannot be paid for even if every dollar on planet Earth is confiscated and used to try and pay off the debt.

And save the pithy, pseudo-intellectual ad hominems. I'm not the one ignoring the fiscal reality of our present fiasco we find ourselves in due to the new deal. It's utterly immoral what has happened. Our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on for the next 1000 generations exponentially have been given a massive debt and tax burden that they will be responsible for but never voted on because some in Washington wanted to buy votes and set up a dependant class of people as a permanent voting block. These asshats should have paid attention to the founding fathers when they opined that the Republic would last until people figured out they could vote for themselves other people's money.

Take for instance, Detroit. The want to claim bankruptcy so that they can raid the coffers of the pensions funds. Do you get that?? They want to steal that money from the people it rightfully belongs to.

Raid WHAT "coffers"??????

The city of Detroit is 18 billion in the red!!! There is nothing there to raid! *facepalm*

Some of you people are crying about your money being taken to feed people in other countries when your government takes trillions to spend on blowing other countries to pieces, killing 100,000's of people, then rebuilding. I'm still trying to figure out where you guys left your brains before entering the conversation, especially the OP. Look at the bigger picture and what's hurting your country more, a flawed benefit system or a flawed political system and government.

They are intertwined. The foreign wars come from appropriations bills. The welfare system however has us currently sitting at 90 trillion in the red in unfunded liabilities. It would take thousands of Iraq wars to rival that financial mess from the entitlement programs. You're straining to squash the tick while the gorrilla is beating you senseless.

The Earth has the capacity to feed around 12 billion at current estimates.

Yes it does and when I see mile after mile of crops used for fuel it makes me crazy.

Bless your heart. Some people don't know what it is like to be hungry. I don't so, I can only empathize. What kills me is that people would allow themselves to be manipulated to be angry at the poor for the state of this union?? I could even say some cuss words but I wont.

They are victims of propaganda. You can't wake them up. It is a journey they must take on their own.

Had you actually read my post for context rather than hastily skimming it over for something to criticize you would know that I said nothing about the poor who need the assistance to survive, but I condemned the behavior of those committing fraud against the system. I have no problem supporting people who need help to survive. I have a problem with people committing fraud.

If a person is sending their food that they receive on an assistance program overseas that is proof positive that they aren't using that food for themselves to survive.

You realize we have pulled the plug on the Ethanol program? The government stopped funding it when they realized how much it raised the cost of food and hurt people in poor countries.
