EDIT: This is a fake report actually....source checking fail

I am so against the Queen and her children having anything to do with anything, but this is hilarious.

“I don’t like to badmouth people,” she said. “But I’m the head of a monarchy that began in the ninth century, and I’m apparently more modern than Chris Christie.”

After shocking observers with her opening salvo, she continued to tear Gov. Christie to shreds.

“Look, I know he has to appeal to the crazy right wingers in his party,” she added. “But the fact is, he’s not as forward-thinking as an eighty-seven-year-old lady who wears a crown on her head. It’s pathetic.”

She does have a point now doesn't she?

I don't really have any knowledge or opinion about the queen or royalty, but I think it's fantastic! She approved gay marriage in the UK and now practically challenges the US to do the same, pointing out that the reason we don't is to cater to the right wing. Truer words were never spoken...

Asked if she had advice for Gov. Christie, the British monarch said, bluntly, “Just sign the damn bill, Chris.”

She's feisty, too! Love it!

I really don't think this is actually from the Queen, she doesn't tend to involve herself in politics, Heck I doubt that she even knows of Chris Christie.
She has got other things on her mind with the new king/queen being born soon.
Checking the source I think this is satire.

Is there really anything modern about a feudal monarch granting approval of personal relationships?

Whether Liz or Christie they're both working within obsolete paradigms.

The style of speech is not authentic.
Acts of Parliament don't get royal assent in the presence of reporters.
So I would say that the report is faked..
This is the New Yorker.
Presumably one of the famous stable of comic writers.

It was a press attended event.

Responding to a reporter’s question about the upcoming royal birth, Elizabeth replied, “Tell you the truth? I’m just glad the kid’s not being born in New Jersey.”

She did it 'live' so to speak.

ETA:

[EX]He is known for creating the satirical column "The Borowitz Report", which has an audience in the millions and was acquired by The New Yorker. In a profile on CBS News Sunday Morning he was called "one of the funniest people in America."[1][/EX]

Got dupped.

Nope it would be all over the news here If she said it.
Just look at the guy who wrote it and his other articles....he is a comedian and wrote others like Texes weighs ban on women.
It isn't real just satire.

Wow! If you didn't know this about Borowitz, how would you know it wad fake?

I agree with the message, too, however.

When I was reading your comments my ragdoll Clarissa found your avatar quite something.

It doesn't sound like the Queen whatsoever. Isn't it ironic she earns a fortune and inherited a fortune as a monarch yet she appears to do nothing towards 'monarching' except to make the odd visits, smile, pull the odd ribbon and wear long gowns whilst she attends fancy dress meetings in Westminster - oh and she likes a bet.

It would be against protocol and tradition for her to make a comment on another country's laws, also she has never made to my knowledge a stupid comment ever - unlike her husband though.:@
