We have a new ghost hunting show, featuring hauntings from my home state, Tennessee.

The name of the paranormal group is, The Tennessee Wraith Chasers. And the name of the show is, Ghostland Tennessee.
This team is using a new technique that I have never seen before to capture the ghost/demon in what is called, The Devil's Toy Box.

I wanted to share this with ATS members to get your thoughts on this box. Do you think it really works?
Also, let me know what you think of the new "Ghost Hunters".

These non-traditional ghost hunters built a “Devil’s Toy Box” by making a cube from 6 mirrors (all facing inward) and enclosing it in a box. According to the team, light reflecting inside the box creates energy that attracts spirits, but once the spirits enter the box to explore, they can’t find their way out – thereby trapping them inside the box.
The team then used the box to attract and trap the entity haunting the Deleusomme home and even claimed to hear tapping and scratching coming from inside the box.
Interestingly, other sources, such as Paranormal News and Above Top Secret claim the Devil’s Toy Box is used to open portals and draw spirits from other realms and may have ties to the Wiccan religion.

www.examiner.com...

In the pilot episode the team visit a home in Castalian Springs, just outside of Nashville, TN.
The Deleusomme family has experienced loud booms, seen shadows, heard footsteps, etc.

I live in the very MIDDLE of Tennessee and have to say there has been so much innocent blood spilled here during the civil war, there is no doubt in my mind that it is someplace where paranormal activity can be found.

I sincerely enjoyed watching the pilot! I don't normally watch any of these ghost hunter shows, I find them rather cheesy and unbelievable normally. I did not however find this new show to be that way, and it definitely made a believer out of me, interesting to say the least!!!

S&F's... good find!

I watched it of course, as I live in East Tn and love the paranormal. That said....I dunno about their spirit box they used. And blowing it up at the end? I kinda like how they were "mostly scientific" and really loved it because of the history of the family.

I'll watch it again.

I was just watching this episode the other day. I remembered thinking that they were capturing way too much "evidence". And wtf was that box that they were carrying? Who thought ghost busting could be so low-tech?

Oh my, these shows just get worse and worse, huh?
I'm all for entertainment, but these shows are just becoming a parody of themselves now. They claim to use "scientific" methods, while preaching about God and Evil? That's the opposite of science and it discredits everything they do.

A person cannot possibly claim to have an analytical and scientific perspective while believing in a God for which there is no scientific evidence. That's it, that's what it comes down to.

I watched the first few minutes of that show and had to turn it off, is brain-numbingly stupid.

I have hear some other sources of a ghost box, fear box or spirit box. But instead of using these mirrors, the box uses vigils and symbols instead of mirrors, to trap the ghost/spirit/demon. The box I'm talking about isn't also 6 ft high or whatever like the show tried to do. The box could be a small jewelery box, and the usage of stones/gems/crystals are used to help capture/cleanse, as well filling the box with salt. The box is left open, til the presence is gone or the haunted location is at ease. Then the box is to be sealed and buried in hallowed ground.

More like the Delusion family. Utter tripe the whole thing.

Most of these paranormal shows are getting just too silly. Any sound, like a mouse scurrying in a wall, is called evidence. If they go to an old house that creaks, pops and settles, it's "ghostly footsteps". I admit, some do have evidence that is hard to debunk and I do believe in the paranormal, but to call what some of them are using "Proof" is really stretching the definition.

I saw it, it was not too bad. The thing is, we should remember this is all on tv. After the stunts Ghost Hunters allegedly pulled on their show, I am doubtful of all "ghost" shows. That's not to say I do not enjoy them, I just watch them the same way I would watch any fictional show.

As to the Devil's Toy Box. That scene made me doubt the validity of this show even more. They really seemed to be hamming it up for the cameras. It was just "too good to be true" in my opinion. All their equipment was going crazy, big red flag to me.

I did all in all enjoy the episode, except I found the end with them blowing up the box a bit too cheesy. I hope every episode does not end with them doing some sort of stunt.

Thank you for your responses.

I see a mix in the opinions here... to be expected.

My opinion was that the crew had too much fun. They didn't come across as being professional enough.
I was a little disappointed until half-way through the show. Then things started to get more interesting.

I think they need to work on capturing the audience's attention at the beginning, or they will have the people flipping the channel right away.

As to whether the box worked in capturing a ghost... they didn't bother to record the sound of scratching or tapping they claimed to hear inside, which sends up a red flag to me. But, they did have all the instruments going off around the box, which I understand can't be affected unless some type of energy field is touching them... and they weren't... so, I don't know... maybe? And that temp reading 666 was really freaky!

And blowing the box up at the end?
I would think this would release the spirit/ghost into our world again. I think they should have buried it in a deep, dark hole somewhere, which would have contained it inside and prevented the possibility of escape.

I realize this is a new show, with fairly new ghost hunters, so they will have to work on a few things at the beginning to learn how to capture the attention of the audience. I really hope they don't copycat the other shows and start faking a bunch of stuff.

I have heard of psychics commanding a spirit to go into a mirror before, and then they take the mirror away from the place and wrap it up in some cloth and then break the mirror by using a hammer on it, which they then claimed traps the spirit somewhere else.

Because the spirit is still inside a mirror, once it is broken they can't get back out.. I know there are a lot of holes in that theory, just repeating what I heard before.

I have also seen that temp 66.6 F on quite a few of those ghost hunting shows before... Creepy stuff..

Carrying that box like they were was indeed freaky, especially if they were being truthful, which I think they were, and having scratching and bumping inside that toy box would really be freaky for sure.. Catching a ghost easier than catching a mouse in a mousetrap if that mirror box really works.

Going to watch this with Roses here in a minute to see if I like it or not.
Will post what I think when I am done.

I'm just waiting for her to get back over here and sit down.
Personally I love all of the ghost shows, but then I am just a nut for paranormal topics

I'm actually glad that so many have come up over the last few years myself.
Some good, some not so good, but all are interesting to me.

I liked the new crew. They were "entertaining" even when nothing else was happening in the "paranormal realm".

I would like to see a followup show on this family to see if they have had any further activity after the box (with the spirit) was removed from the house. If not, then that could offer some evidence that the box worked.

Great thread, Sled.

That is one of my thoughts as well, I would love to hear a follow up on if the spirit activity stopped after they came and did their thing. The box is interesting but is supposed to generate it's own paranormal experience, so it couold of just been the box.

That was one of the things I was fighting with my thinking while watching the show.

That's an interesting way to capture a spirit, as well. Thank you for your reply.

Ok, I watched it!

First off, it reminds me of Lizard Lick Towing of the Paranormal!
I enjoy that show, so this was entertaining as well.

If they did not make any of it up, which as far as the family is concerned I believe, as they seemed legitimately weirded out, then it was a pretty good show.

The paranormal crew was funny.
I believe humor is vital in these kinds of things as people can generate bad vibes if they get to serious.
I liked their lighthearted approach and it makes for good TV.

At first I was kind of disappointed, but as the actual investigation started it did get interesting.
I do have a problem with their box though as it is supposed to on its own generate paranormal activity, so there is no way to tell if it was just the box, or a spirit being trapped within it. A follow up with the family is needed to make a judgement on that.

Also I would of liked to have seen them try to develop a yes or no with their instruments and the spirit they were communicating with instead of taking every response as a yes. When asked if it was mad that it was trapped and it responded, there is no way to tell if it was or was not upset...etc.

Also, when they removed the box and took it out to the swamp, I did not see them using any equipment to see if it was still there, which makes me think at that point, the box was "dead" and empty.
How they destroyed the box was cool, I like explosions

Take a look at the end of the video right after they blew up the box, there is a figure off to the right in the background that moves around and caught my eye. It could be a camera man, but I just noticed it and thought it was odd.

If there was something in the box, destroying it by blowing it up would only set it free, although in a new location if it was still in there.

Over all, I liked it, it has entertainment value, but without a follow up with the family it is impossible to tell if they were successful. If the crew was not dramatizing it, it was a good investigation.
I loved the humor.

As to the religious aspect , I think that is fine, in fact works out for that kind of work in some ways as they are protected, however it also works against them, as they will experience something and label it demonic or evil instead of looking at it objectively and leaving open the possibility of a lost or confused or even a spirit who is just kind of hanging out there, as there are some who do that if they have memories attached to such a place, good or bad.

Also they were mighty quick to jump to conclusions about the bang, which I was thinking was a cannon ball, and not a portal, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks Sled! If they continue to run the show I will keep watching.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Especially yours, Darkblade! Very detailed. Awesome!

I will have to watch the video again and see if I notice that figure you mentioned.

But, now... time for work.

Catch you all in the morning.

Okay I just watched it (alright I did skipped right to the "Devil's Box" part")

Firstly a minor rant........I wish these shows and other documentary shows on other subjects would just drop the constant background music........especially when someone is talking.........it's highly irritating to me and there really is no need for constant background music throughout the whole show.

As for the show itself..........well it's certainly marketed as entertainment rather than serious study of the subject.........much like "Tanked" is more aimed at entertainment rather than a show for serious aquarium hobbyists.

And as for the "Devils Box"...........well I have to say, I think it's just a gimmick....... ..as was the "666" reference.

Seriously.........if they had thought they had captured the ghost in the Devils Box........then they would have something that would have been so valuable, that it had the potential to prove the existence of ghosts to the wider world and die hard skeptics, and this ghost could have been studied by scientists the world over..........and yet what do these guys do..........blow it up.........yeah right!

Sorry but the show is more entertainment than serious ghost research.
