For those who know me, know i dont make many threads and I dont come on here looking for attention, but something really odd happened last night. I hope theres a scientific or just a normal reason for it, maybe someone has an answer.
Couple of nights ago my eldest daughter came down from her room, on her way out she said," i think im going mad did you hear a bell ringing?" so I said " no Kate, your nuts lay off the booze lol".
So an odd thing happened last night, it was about 3am, and i got up to get a fan, because it is so hot in the Uk at the moment, so im sat on my bed. and im thinking " what is that sound? a bell ringing? " It couldnt be the local church because its a mile away and it only rings on sundays and weddings. So i put my head out of the door and i can hear it all around, almost like something repeatidly banging against metal, (very much like a bell being ringing). I couldnt pin point the direction the sound was coming from either.
Now, I would be the first to say that being member of this site, does make you somewhat paranoid and makes you hear and see things that you wouldnt have before.
Maybe it was a weather phenomenon or just NOTHING, but id be interested to hear if anyone else from around my area had the same experience.

i am very sensative to frequencies and i constantly hear a rining in my head that does not stay the same pitch.

I notice that when ever an earthquake happens and its big or close enough i one of my ears goes deaf with a ringing.

And more often than not an earthquake will be reported just prior. But im a beacon for all sorts of weird.
I don't want attention, The only time i make threads is to explain an experience or to teach people something.

I read to many comments/posts on threads and such i feel i need to comment on.

Anyways. Seismemic activity could be the cause of this. I have noticed some mini earthquakes physically as well. Not a good sign.

Haha, i suppose we're all a bit a sensitive to noises in the sky since the weird booms business last year. I just cant think of any explanation because it did sound like a church bell, yet the church is a mile away and the bell does not ring in the night. Spoookkkky.

I would love to say that it was due to a problem with my hearing, but for Katy to say two days earlier she could hear a bell ringing was just really weird. I not really had a chance to ask anyone else from around where i live if they heard it, but the people I know are more interested in wimbledon/big brother/bla bla, yknow you get the gist.

There is an atmospheric phenomenon that allows sound to travel long distances. Try to identify the sound. You say metal on metal contact noise so it could be a variety of things. A rake and shovel hanging on a shed knocking together in the wind or some such thing.

I’ve encountered similar activity before; sometimes I’ve discovered the source as much as a ¼ mile away. The odd thing is that it wasn’t loud, it just carried.

If it persists however, you (and your daughter) may need to see a doctor. Good luck.

you are detecting nature thought emissions. indeed i as well experienced it in the past week. frequency is changed and it seems as tho the outer ear goes deaf and the inner ear is focussing on a fine and compact stream of 'data'. this same ringing is accomplished in meditation just before achieving the out of body state. it is the voice of the soul and you most likely are on a good path to spiritual realization since God chooses to shout in your ears while only whispering to others.

perhaps my message is meant to guide, having it so that i will see what u have wrote and respond. i have attained samadhi. look it up. it's real and well worth the effort to come to be spiritually awake. if u do or have already taken up the task.. Good luck. i can help answer any questions u may have if u like.

to the OP, were the booms of the bell similar to those in this video?

Can you give any more detail/s...such as:
1. Low pitch / High pitch / Constant (always same frequency?)
2. Could you distinguish the "hammer hitting metal", or...?
3. If you "could" distinguish the "metal on metal" sound...was there a consistency to its repetition...or otherwise.
4. What is the terrain/landscape near you? (Is it city, hills, prairie, coast, etc...)

1. Low pitch, same frequency.
2. Sounded exactly like a large bell being struck, that is the best description.
3. Same as above. About ten seconds between each strike.
4. Hills and valleys, very warm hills and valley at the moment.

Thankyou for a taking a serious interest its very much appreciated.

I have become sensitive to frequencies. I sometimes hear a dong like a spring snapping or a bell like sound. I am going to start marking the time down and research earthquakes to see if there is a relationship.

One day I was on the computer attempting to send pictures and a letter to an archeologist of my avatar. The smoke alarm in the room started to talk. I called the wife and grandaughter up to listen, we were trying to figure out what it was saying. It was a good laugh for all of us as we listened to the weird voicelike sounds it was making. I decided to not send the letter to the archeologist. I felt it was some sort of a sign.

Well - Thank you! I love mysteries (guess everyone on this sight must, as well)
When you say "low pitch", and follow that with "large bell"...are we talking "Big Ben" large, or something with a higher tenor? Or maybe this would be better (if you're familiar) - If you were to compare the "low" to "high" pitch bells you've heard in your life...to Tuba (lowest end) and Trumpet (highest end), would this fit with Tuba...or somewhere further up the scale (like - Baritone, Trombone, or even French Horn)?

The fairly consistent striking is interesting. If it were a loose tether-ball pole & rope, or flag pole...I don't see a very deep (resonating) sound being emitted.

Do you think that the sound continues throughout the day/s...and either gets drowned-out by the bustle of every-day business... Or - might you simply learn to "ignore" it until the bustle calms enough for it to regain preeminence? In other words - do you think it has been constant since at least the first time your daughter mentioned it...?

If it has not been constant...do you recall if wind or breeze were prevalent at both times (or not)?

I know - I'm asking a lot of questions...and you may not have time to answer them...but - being that I/we don't know how far away the sound/s are coming from, or some of the other data that might be relevant...it's kind of difficult to develop a clear enough picture to start guessing.

Anyway - hope all is well.

Hi, just got back from doing all the mum type things like school run etc. I asked Kate and she said shes heard it a few times, (btw shes not one for silliness, shes 21 and a schoolteacher).
Yes its big ben like, but not as loud and coming from what seems like all around.
I did think that maybe katy mentioning hearing a bell affected what i was hearing at the time, but i listened and it truly did sound like a large church bell being sounded.
Now, i dont hear anything at the moment, however, its rush hour, i live by a motorway, theres children playing out in the sun. Ive no doubt il wake again tonight unable to sleep in the heat, IF, i hear anything, il be more prepared and will listen more carefully.

edit. The pitch was not as low as a tuba, but pretty deep.

edit on 8-7-2013 by thedoctorswife because: tuba talk.

...

It's not leading me anywhere, yet.
Do you know if there is any kind of drilling (oil) or is a pipeline of any sort being installed in the general vicinity (obviously, that could be miles away, and you might not be aware of it)?
For whatever reason, I'm also drawn to the notion of something maritime...though it would seem that foghorns would be the more common implementation. "Bells" have been placed on buoys before... Don't know how good an idea that is/was (because of corrosion...and...I don't think they could handle the size bell you seem to be hearing).
Maybe I'll let this digest for a while and see if anything percolates up the spout.
Thanks for an interesting teaser... Looking forward to hearing any updates/thoughts you might give.
