Do you know that USA is not really the first country that declared independence in this hemisphere?

We have believed for too much time that the liberty in this continent was invention of the America revolution, that it started the fourth of July of 1776, also that the American constitution was the first ever written in the western world, but that is not really the case.

The first really free country of this hemisphere was the disappeared Kingdom of Miskitia, also called Moskitia, located in the Caribbean coast of Central America, in territories that today are controlled primarily by Nicaragua but also by Honduras and in minor proportion by Costarica.

Miskitia became a recognized independent Native American Kingdom In 1651 under the protection of England, and remained in that status until the end of the XIX century, when it fell victim of a partition that was agreed in between Nicaragua and Honduras, primarily, but also tolerated by Costarica, USA and Columbia.

This nation was erased of the map on 1928 by Nicaragua, unfortunately with American support, that by the time was trying to reduce the British sphere of influence in the continent .

However, on April 19th, 2013 the entire 360 Miskito communities finally decided to break definitively any political link with Nicaragua and to make respect their declaration of complete Independence of 2009.

This has happened after almost a century to be military invaded and its population severely violated in all their civil rights.

Their brave Indigenous Army is decided to defy the occupation Marxist Sandinist arm forces in order to get effective independence.

I believe America has now the opportunity to correct this Historic mistake by responding with solidarity to this suffered Native American Nation thirsty to regain its Liberty.

The Miskitia History represents an amazing chapter of the western Hemisphere one, they were the very first Independent country of the Americas, ruled by native Americans, in a time when the first Puritans were just arriving to New England.

if Miskitia regain its independence it will be automatically the second central American country speaking English, and also probably it will gain admission to the British Commonwealth, but primarily it will reduce the impact of the Nicaraguan Marxist Government on the Caribbean, it will also represent a correction of a terrible historic error that has complicated a lot the stability of various countries that feel the menace of the Sandinist expansionism, like Costarica and Columbia or even Honduras.

What happened with the Miskitia Nation is the worst political partition ever occurred in the modern world. Only the Poland partition in the XVIII century by Prussia, Austria-Hungary and Russia is so grave than this case.

Followed by Honduras and Costarica, Nicaragua leaded this erase operation of a country that had recognized sovereignty with special protection by the United Kingdom for three centuries, that was a peaceful nation and almost entirely Native American.

You are welcome, I like happy endings and I believe the Saga of Miskitia deserve a better place in History, that the one now it has.

The cause of the Miskitos is a very inspirational one, every time that I research more in the topic I find amazing new revelations.

The Miskitia Kingdom also offered to the slaves that escaped from the Spanish ranches, a long two centuries, the first secure refuge where they found a truly oasis of freedom.

Many of the current Miskitos are mixed with those African Central Americans. That means that we are talking also of the first Country that abolish slavery in the Western Hemisphere and promote racial integration.

And that is not all, from what the Wikipedia page says on the social organization of Moskitia, it seems taxes perhaps never existed over there in the way we now know them.

The kingdom stood strongly against any Spanish incursions in their region, and were prepared to offer rest and asylum to any anti-Spanish groups that might come to their shores. At the very least English and French privateers and pirates did visit there, taking in water and food. A detailed account of the kingdom written by a buccaneer known only as M. W. describes its organization as being fundamentally egalitarian, with the king, and some officials (usually called "Captains" in that period but later being more elaborate) were primarily military leaders, but only in time of war
