A freshman House Democrat filed a resolution Friday that would allow members of Congress to vote remotely on bills from their home districts.

Sourc e
Sue me for thinking this is one of the most stupid ideas I have ever read for some odd reason I think politicians should well actually work from their offices, and vote in person.

Hell they already don't read what they pass so I really don't expect them to read 2000 page bills on their blackberries, and Iphones.

Hell the NSA gets to intercept that communication a foreign government that sponsors hacking could in real time change the vote on the fly.

Never accredited congressman or government with an over abundance of intelligence stuff like this just solidifies that opinion.

Lazy!

Casting votes from home!
Wonder how many billions of dollars they are going to blow on this crap.?

No actually this might be a good idea.
And should be implemented all over the usa.

This will make sure that no senator can abstain from voting by not being in DC.
And also will curb any sort of voting shenanigans from occurring. Like in this video.

Has any politician/congressman ever in their entire lives 'come up with a good idea' ?

No.

For the money they get paid, they can show up at the office. They can also be expected to read the law for which they are voting.

That video showing voting for other members indicates something needs to be fixed. Show up and vote or let the record show you didn't.

The Congressman wants to play golf so he tells his kid to cast his vote when the vote is called.

If they can't make it to vote, or can't vote for themselves... then I think we can find a replacement for them?

Yes?

To that lady in grey's video making 10x more than me stating "We don't get bathroom breaks, we don't get this, we don't get that.. waaah waah"... Please... This is what I want to say to her:

You don't even read what you're passing.

I haven't had a day off work since I started, unless I had a Doctor's Note. Yes, a doctor's note, so basically when I am sick I still have to come in unless I had enough cash to go to the doctor to HAVE HIM TELL ME that I had the flu. I barely got enough money to eat, taking time off or going to the Doctor are serious things to me.

I haven't seen my dad in almost a decade cuz I can't get off work, and they wanna complain about not being able to do their job because they have to vote for hours on end? Shut up lady

Good question we do we?

So we can have a 'clear conscience' thinking the next guy/girl is better.

The problem is we have politicians that are nothing but snake oil salesman selling 'miracle cures' for the disease of Government.

We need statesman people who don't make it lifetime commitment of screwing people over who don't put their own power over us.

If we allow congress people to vote without leaving there robe or fuzzy slippers, can we also vote to reduce their pay to minimum wage? Geez, what in the heck are we paying these people for? This is more laziness than I am willing to pay for, as a taxpayer.

My God...I just gave neo96 a flag for one of his posts.

I did it though, because I think it's a great idea. It will force congressmen to demand higher speed internet connections for their districts. It will allow congressmen to spend time in their districts to be better representatives!

It would save, literally, millions of dollars in transportation costs. You don't think congress pays for all those flights out of their pockets, do you?

Imagine being able to go to your representatives office and giving him an earful rather than complaining to an intern in Washington.

Ultimately though, I imagine this is just a way to give congress their voice back. A way to let them vote on important matters in the event that they miss their flight or something silly like that. It certainly wouldn't be an exodus from Washington, though...if it were, I wouldn't be terribly disappointed. They might actually do their jobs.

Unflagged it

Considering how bad they have screwed up this country while they are on Capital Hill imagine how screwed up it will be with stay at home 'voting'.

Yes it is a good idea.

Nice to see so many luddites being dragged kicking and screaming into the future. Makes me chuckle.

So who would be doing the 'security' for this system?

The resolution would create a secure, remote voting system......

These Guys?

Maybe if it has a retinal scan app or the congress moron has to do it live on web cam or something, idk. It would be kind of funny watching the fossilized ones bitch and complain about how to work it while the web cam and mic are open, just be prepared for eye bleach in case of bathrobe malfunctions.

If a Congress person doesn't have the desire to be at the capitol and vote maybe s/he is in the wrong profession.

"Mr. Speaker, can we delay the vote? I am having a pool party for lobbyists at my house right now and have not determined who is offering the best money for my vote."

I am against this, because it would be a huge disadvantage to the GOP who view computers and technology as "new fangled magic typewriters".

Most of these old farts don't even know how to turn on a computer let alone login to cast a vote. You would see 100% democratic votes with 100% republican failure to vote rates.

I so do love that hyperbole, and vitriol, as it clearly shows how tolerant some people who claim to be always 'touting their superiority' and still to this date:

None have ever proven it.
