Foreign Ministry Decides Asylum for Accused CIA Spy

It looks like the decision is going to come on Monday, whether or not Snowden will be able to get to Ecuador is still up in the air. Of course, Assange is stuck in the U.K. Ecuadorian Embassy but Snowden probably learned from that and decided to go to Moscow -

That's the kind of things I don't like. Why they have to turn this into a "novela". Just do it without warnings, unless they want to make a deal.

It looks like Ecuador could be playing this to their advantage since US Sen. Menendez threatened Ecuador with sanctions should they grant Snowden asylum. Should they grant him asylum and the US sanction Ecuador, this will confirm internationally that the US is a human rights violator and persecutor of those that would blow the whistle on its criminal activities and human rights violations. Further justifying Amnesty Internationals placement of the US on the list of human rights violators. It is not like the world does not know that the US is a heavy violator, it just makes it official as a published violator.

Ecuador needs to grant Snowden asylum and not buckle under US pressure. Failing to grant will indicate that Ecuador has little regard for those persecuted for exposing the crimes of their governments and would rather kiss and lick the boots of the US.
