Well, I guess were going to need another Abraham Lincoln. I'll take Lincoln as my President, and I have no idea what you'll choose. But do make it fair, for this will be fun.

This Abraham Lincoln?

Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable, a most sacred right – a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can, may revolutionize, and make their own of so much of the territory as they inhabit.

– Abraham Lincoln, January 12, 1848

It's written into the Declaration of Independence that if the Government becomes tyrannical, it's the responsibility of the people to overthrow it.

Unfortunately, the average American won't get off the couch to change the channel on the tv, let alone overthrow their Government.

And if you're wondering why Americans don't put their guns to good use - the US Government has the sort of firepower that will render 300 million guns held by their citizens completely obsolete.

What your insisting would be treason. Just to clarify, and no coming back.

If they had of lost, it would have been treason for the Founding Fathers too. But they won, and a new nation was born.

It won't happen in America because all people seem to be interested in is looking after themselves. Revolution on a national scale means looking beyond the self and acting together for a greater cause. That and the fact that most who talk about revolution are cowards and would only be happy to watch it on TV behind locked doors.

Won't happen in our lifetime.

Americans are more divided right now than at any time during their history, including during the Civil War.

The right wing media especially has done a great job of making sure that Americans are heavily divided and live in a constant state of paranoia and fear of their Government and their neighbor.

It's the classic tactic - divide and conquer. The US Government, through social engineering via the media, have created exactly the sort of society that's easy to control and supress.

That's why I'm tired of people complaining about the U.S. govt.

Nobody's going to change anything if all they wanna do is cry about how corrupt the system is.

And if the people decided to revolt violently, it would be a disaster.

Everyone thinks the United States is out to get them.

I bet they're actually just giving TPTB New ideas.

Know, who says I know anything particularly associated to a movement of unrest or civil disobedience. Yet, in times we're in I find a Nine Inch Nails song " We're in this Together", quite acceptable to fit the mood.
