...*gulp*

I dunno what to say.....just feeling weird in my stomach... Europe should really start getting worried ...

For those who don't know what the treaty is

The treaty is formally titled The Treaty Between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles. The treaty eliminated nuclear and conventional ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with intermediate ranges, defined as between 500-5,500 km (300-3,400 miles).

Well, it isn't like Russia ever got a fair deal with the treaty, anyway.

It was a treaty for missiles that had a range of 500 - 5,500km.

So, if you look at it that way, that means America wasn't allowed to strike Canada and Mexico.

Really fair, America.

It's only fair that Russia steps up and tells a nice story to the world. There are a lot of unstable countries in Europe at the moment, and Russia is the only nation with enough stride to make any difference.

I'm all for Russia, not only because I'm Russian by lineage.

This is good news, Russia & China & Iran must stand up to the American bully for all free peoples sake's, Russia can win a conventional war with NATO, mostly because every NATO country has dif weapons & UK & America closed it's forward bases down in Germany & Italy years ago, they would need to deliver everything from USA if shipping lanes were open, which of course would not be.
I love it, I am really pleased Obama has bit off more than he can chew, and just at a time when he has bankrupted America too, could not have happened at a better time, Russia can afford arms, USA being bust cannot pay anything but brass buttons for arms.

Good.

I've heard Putin talking about missile/Nuclear disarmament - But the Americans have not been playing ball for the last couple of years.

I would love for Washington to be nuked (civilians evacuated of course).

I think Russia has really enjoyed the distraction that the U.S. has given by what our side has been doing almost recklessly now for a decade or so. Russia is not and has never been a big bringer of peace or good intentions to anyone where it doesn't serve their own interests. The thing I may see different about them is that they've really never played like they were anything else, either. Their Military expansions in all areas, while the U.S. is cutting across the board is staggering to see though and reality as we've known it as Americans is changing in not so subtle ways.

The Russian Navy is expected to receive 24 submarines and 54 surface warships of various classes by 2020, according to the Defense Ministry.

Putin said last year that the procurement of new warships and submarines for the Navy would be a priority over the next decade. The Russian government has allocated 5 trillion rubles ($166 billion), or a quarter of the entire armament procurement budget through 2020, for this purpose.

That includes 8 Ballistic Nuclear Missile Submarines. Putin has said they will be among those returning to 24/7 blue water patrol. Never a good thing to see develop and the minute hand on the big clock goes another click in the wrong direction. It had been moving the right way for a long time. Of course, he's upgrading his Strategic Air assets and developing entirely new ones at a high priority as well. Not to mention Land based ICBM's.

I'd say this is definitely something Europe ought to be concerned about but other nations as well. Russia runs from the Pacific to the Atlantic and Europe is only one border they have for world regions. Withdrawing from a treaty usually does mean a nation is about to begin making whatever it dealt with. Lots of them, probably.

They may just be looking for a new treaty,I wouldn't worry about this just yet.

I was reading the posts here, it amazes me how everyone hates how America is attacking freedoms and destroying nations, but think Russia would be a better leader.

If Russia was to become the dominant superpower we would see a new world, and it wouldn't be for the best.

If you think Russia has a chance to take the lead you've lost your mind. The allies are weakened, but not out.
And America is still the dominant military power, if our leaders felt that was changing, we'd see on the news how Russia is killing they're people and need to be stopped.

good
the end of the cold war was supposed to bring a time of peace
the Russians were deceived by the USA and largely decommissioned its armed forces in the belief that America was going to do the same
alas NATO had other ideas and went off around the world stamping its authority on every one without a rival powerful enough to question or counter
now NATO is on Russias southern and western boarder and Russias allowed itself to loose the missiles designed to counter such a scenario
Russias learnt the hard way and they wont make the same mistake again
this very rhetoric was used by the Russian foreign minister but a few months ago

Not really, Russia suffered more than a decade of economic collapse. They lost their capability because they went through a patch of not being able to pay for it. Not through any desire to set a pacifist example.

Now they can pay for it again due to fossil fuel profits so they are building up again.

The Russians are rational and self interested and Europe is a customer. I don't fear the Russians doing anything to upset their cash flow.

Russia is no ones fool

The USA says it wants to ban biological weapons and all that but in fact the USA and its friends in Israel are spending more and more on development in this field than anything and the only trouble is that i am not sure if they are incline to use such weapons on those useless eaters at home who are looking forward to a nice 401k and the good life.

Russia and China might just save more American lives than TPTB want you to think

Today the USA is doing a lot worse than Hitler ever did back in the 1930's and it's getting worse by the day

I'd love to see solid references for the suggestion of Israel working on biological weapons programs? If true, that would be a revelation they'd likely find as their point of losing support across the world. I don't know of any nation-state that is actively working on the microscopic kind (namely because you can't turn it off once started) and while a few may have deep deep programs for the breathing variety of bio-weapon, I hadn't seen anything to suggest they were among them. That would be a game changer, I'd think.
