Wow! Talk about conditioning!
So, everyone now seems to think that uttering a line praising god is justification for murder? Should we also blow away anyone shouting "Praise the lord", which is in effect the same thing? Or is it only when a brown person says it that the conditioned reflex kicks in and the bullets fly?

Baptists don't generally scream "Praise the Lord" shortly before blowing up a mall. Haven't heard a lot of "Hare Krishna!" or "Mahadeo!" before the C4 goes off either. There's just a lot of religions and religious phrases that aren't associated with mad bombings.

yelling allah akhbar is synonymous with violence in syria at the moment so I can somewhat see the necessity for vigilance, but killing him should send this person to a court of law for justice, as he had dished out unnecessary street justice on his own behalf.

the state of Israel should not find this acceptable at all

Id have to live over there and endure all the suicide bombings to understand fully.. I would assume that since it was a Jewish holiday that security was already amped up.. Probally had briefings all week on terrorism.. Then to have that jackass use the exact words that bring death to so many in that part of the world.. I say he got what he deserved.. I wont scream bomb or hijack on a plane.. I say suicide..

What are you talking about? Suicide bombings in Israel are a pretty rare occurrence, they have more to fear from rocket barrages from Palestinians. This guy was Israeli, not Palestinian. Even so, Allah Ackbar is a very, VERY common phrase, and again, has many applications beyond just blowing yourself up.

Jesus Christ, is it okay to slaughter people on a limb now because they say a word that scares you?

Apparently that's the ATS consensus, at least in this thread.

-shocking, really...

Not saying I am an expert, but through my studies I have understood Allahu Akbar can also mean the world is in chaos until it is taken over by the Islamic faith. In the best interest of all concerned, that nothing but faith in Islam should remain. In the eyes of the Islamic person these are words of hope and encouragement but it can also mean kapow!

I don't blame the probably Jewish guard for being a little jittery. Especially if it is as some have said, he was wearing a heavy coat in summer. Augh!

PS agree with hooha. We are not living over there and subject to possible death nearly every day due to faith and heritage. We don't even know what that means.

Don't know what he was wearing exactly but he was inside a closed stall next to the guard so he wasn't exactly fully visible.

Like I mentioned before extremists have been found to swallow, insert or surgically implant bombs inside their bodies to pass security checks. You could be completely naked with someone else holding the remote detonator switch and still be a threat. A good friend of mine from high school' little brother lost his hand and part of his forearm as well as his sight in his right eye and most of his hearing from a man who managed to smuggle a bomb in that way. They weren't sure exactly how he got it inside himself since by the time they realized it was there he was little more than soup on their walls.

As an American living in Israel off and on for about 3 of the last 5 years, I can say this from experience - Israeli's take their security very seriously, they're not politically correct, don't care if your feelings get hurt, and they don't mess around. Yelling a phrase that is oft used moments before detonating a bomb, at a Jewish holy site no less, is absolutely stupid. It's akin to waving a toy gun around in front of a cop in the US - Something any American would know not to do. Likewise, any Jewish Israeli would know the result of yelling "Allahu Akbar!" at the West Wall... This guy either had mental issues, wanted to die, or both.

I've been to the West Wall and you have to go through a security checkpoint manned by IDF and pass through a metal detector. I normally carry a pocket knife and left it with the guards until I left. So it is unlikely that he had a bomb or weapon, but if someone was determined I'm sure they could find a way. And as I said before, they don't mess around here and are not going to take any chances - good or bad, that's how it is...

If the 280 million people who were slaughtered by Muslims over the last 1400 years were still around to answer that question, I suspect their answer would be a resounding YES...

He won't shout that again! if he knew the outcome of such an act, then there is only one person to blame for this....
