Big Quake in Mexico City

About 5 minutes ago there was a big quake in Mexico City.

I think it was about 7 because it was very big.


I will post info when I know more about the quake.

I see nothing up yet on the USGS site about it. Just the swarm from earlier off the west coast of Nicaragua.

In my quakewatch app shows a 5.8 quake from Guerrero.

I feel this quake like it was a 7 it was very strong.

It is too low, before we have quakes of 7.5 and this one was very similar.

With the small swarm near nicaragua, now here and the overall outpacing on the eastern pacific ring recently i wonder if these may e foreshocks to avery large quake in the northern americas?

If it was in Mexico, shouldn't we look at Mexican sources?

When the ground quaking is under you feet things feel a little different.

Mexico City would be a pile of rubble if it was a 7, those buildings aren't built to withstand quakes.

The last big earthquake in Mexico City resulted in (officially) 10,000 deaths, but it was a 8.1.

Why are you in this thread then? Or even this forum at all if you're only new today and you're telling people how to feel? Mexico city has about 12 MILLION people living it in, a lot of them in slums - if we learnt anything from Haiti - it does not take a 'big' quake to lose a lot of lives in a city with building codes that aren't suitable for earthquakes.

Yes, big quake by Sat. 6/22 off N. American west coast.
