When I was at school we always talked about the future and flying cars etc, but here we have something slightly different....

Flying cars are yet to take off, could bikes have a better chance?

Researchers in the Czech Republic have unveiled a 95kg (210lb) remotely controlled bicycle that can hover a few metres above ground for five minutes...

Carrying a dummy rider, the electric prototype successfully took off, flew around and landed inside an exhibition hall in Prague....

The bike is powered by two battery-run propellers on the front, two on the back and one on each side...

I should add, I like the concept.

But it looks like it has been designed by a child.

Why does that immediately make me think of this?

Crikey! Bring on the flying monkeys.

Video is pretty neat. At first, I didnt think it would be very airworthy since I didn't see any stabilizers or control surfaces. But in the video, it becomes clear that there are two small black fans on either side of the rider that enable the ability to turn and maintain steady flight.

A prototype for sure, but interesting.

I apologise, I didn't invent the flying bike, I only posted the thread...haha...but like anything else ever invented, the most stupid looking contraptions can end up being the greatest developments for the future....

Design fail.

That thing is a suicide machine. Imagine the rotors collide with a bird or rip apart due to other reasons.

The pieces from the rotors would could you nicely in half.

LOL this reminds me of the man made UFO project where you see a terrified pilot float around in a disc shaped object with fans as motors. Didn't really do much just scared the bajeezus out of the pilot.
