Justhad the police at the door to tell me my Mum had passed away in the local hospital due to old age. She was born in 1923 and suffered Bipolar among other things and was in a nursing home along with her husband who is about the same age.
Haven't seen her for about 3 years die to us falling out because she wouldn't take her medicine and would change into someone who was always violent and swear plus throw things around, so my wife and I stayed away even though I used to go to see her twice a week every week before that.
Am going over to see when the funeral is, think its Monday so will be going to give my respects to her.my dad died when he was 55 due to cancer and that was over 30 years ago.
At the end of the day, you only have the one Mum regardless of how ill or sick she was. She brought me up and looked after me so its a sad day for me.
Police said she passed away today but nursing home reckon it was Wednesday after being admitted to hospital on Saturday so will find the correct day she died then.
They had only my old cell phone number so couldn't contact me until they found my address today.
Her husband is in a bad way as well seemingly according to the staff there...

My deepest sympathies, and what a rough way to find out. No matter what your beliefs, she is now in a better place.

I'm sorry about your mom and I understand about the situation. I lost my real father a year ago, and he never gave up being mean and nasty. He even banned us from his funeral. Nobody was supposed to tell us about it. I will say this, even when there are bad feelings, I do regret not being able to say good-bye. I still think about it all the time.
Again, Sorry for your loss.

Your parents have always been there and it is a shock to one day discover that they are not at the end of the day. I was beside my Dad when he passed away and hope she didn't die alone or among strangers .....

I am sorry Davy. It has to be harder when you are estranged. My mother died feb of this year from cancer, but I was lucky enough to be there while she was still lucid. There is a line from Bicentennial Man that haunts me, "Will everyone I ever care about just.. go?" the immortal android asks. At least we are not immortal, so eventually we all will follow that path. It is a strange comfort to know it won't hurt forever because we won't be here forever.

I don't know what to say.

I will light a candle each tonight, one for your Mother and one for you in your grief.

She must have had healthy young life for her to be live until 90.

I doubt this generation would live past 60.

Thanks for the nice comments , just keep thinking of the good times we had and as someone said at least she's in a better place. Will find out all the details tomorrow from the home she and her husband were in. I looked it up and it's a private place that is small but well looked after....

I am sorry about your loss scotsdavy1.

Our carnal bodies must support this passing in eternity,a road which all of us will take someday, well with few exceptions of course.

I am sure she is in a better place now from where she can see,the truth, unspoken truth.

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

We had lost touch a few years ago but at the end of the day it is family and you only get the one mother. It has been on my mind constantly since I heard about it and funeral is only a few hours away. I've to get a cord but at least she will be in a better place now.
Thanks again for all the messages of support here, I really appreciate it and I do mean that.
