I agree, I remember when I lived in texas many moons ago I was stopped late at night while walking home and was asked for an ID, I had none so they threw me in the jail till morning (they musta had extra room back then). If an ID is required for me then it should be required for all, other wise why even have them. It is not profiling, it is called doing your job. But hey we as a society can take and twist words around so it makes it look bad. We do however need to get are talking points right. Sorry kinda went on a rant. I'm back now.

well the airlines should profile young arab males & near the mexican border they need to proflie people the look mexican @ traffic stops , life & safety aint pretty

everyone interested in this should do a bit of research on Sheriff Joe.He mailed himself a bomb for gods sake! He went on a phishing trip to hawaii to look for birther stuff.His workplace raids do catch a lot of illegals,but he never arrests the owners...isn't it illegal to hire an illegal? Most of his staff look like Buford T Justice from smoky and the bandit! Really,they wear swat gear while watching the jails! A bunch of wanna be rambo's! And he has a tank and an anti aircraft gun! He's a joke.

Most of the stuff in Arizona has a special place for hispanics.

Sheriff Joe profiles. Because it's part of a law enforcement's job to profile. If Maricopa County's mugshot database still exists, go find the faces that get arrested. I don't think it's all hispanics on that list. About 2/3rds of the arrested are caucasian.

So does the community colleges. There are applications, I think on a federal level, where you have to check the box that most applies to you. Hispanic gets its own box. There are special financial perks like education grants for being hispanic. There are business organizations that won't let you in, unless you're hispanic. There is an Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; do you think that's fair, that if I want to make business connections I have to be hispanic?

How come the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce isn't condemned for racist profiling too?

Race cards are hard to play because everybody has one.

I don't follow the Sheriff so I don't know what he is up too but I do know if he actually mailed himself a bomb he would have already been in federal prison.

You don't send bombs in the mail and get away with it. Perhaps you could post a link?

He didn't actually mail a bomb to himself. What happened is that in 1999 18 year old James Saville was arrested by MCSO detectives for plotting to send a pipe bomb to Arpaio. Arpaio then went on numerous TV and radio shows stating they won't scare him away. Saville was acquitted of charges after spending four years in prison because it was found out that MCSO officers helped him purchase the bomb parts and entrapped him as part of a publicity stunt. This publicity stunt then cost the citizens of Maricopa county $1.1 million after Saville sued the MCSO for wrongful arrest.

Ugh good lord that's awful. Reminds of how the FBI entraps "terrorists" now a days. Jimmy deserves every cent of that million.
