Wild youre correct.
Somehow i do not think the Germans were progressives. they were totalitarians. They wanted control over everyone in Germany. Wild youre not the only one who is irritated with the slandering of polotics. Im mostly conservative myself but am open to changes that are needed.

The Nazis were National Socialists---close to totalitarians.
The current crop of Communists in the US/West are calling themselves Progressives. As always, they are totalitarian wolves pretending to be sheep until they disarm the populace.
