Came across this video on YouTube that apparently shows a group of "Tea Party Patriots" insulting and mocking a man with Parkinson's disease.

Link to video

This is really sickening, how can they call themselves patriots when they let their fellow country man fall ill? This kind of mentality is very dangerous and despotic in nature. In my opinion it's one of the biggest threats to American society.

When we have people like that, that are so vigorously opposed to even the most basic of social safety nets; The safety nets that gave this country the largest middle class in the world. It makes one wonder what lies they were told to make them be opposed to their best interests.

Folks, if these people take over our government then we ALL LOSE.

So a few people making fun of someone is representative of the whole? Every single person that falls under the Tea Party umbrella is of the same mindset?

I don't think so.

I do not care the slightest about politics, but that is just mean.
No matter what side someone stands on, some love should be shown.

I wouldn't think all teaparty people are like that. Those people were a bunch of jerks in that video though. I wish misfortune on them. There is no law in heaven or on earth that stops a person from wishing misfortune on someone like that. We don't have to turn the other cheek, that part was made up so the original Christians would not get slaughtered as a group. Those times are long gone.

I know people with Parkinson's and they were good workers and taxpayers all their life. Just because you get crippled doesn't mean that others can talk to you like that. For all we know that whole thing could have been staged too, but who would be so stupid to stage an event with that kind of content.

I really dislike the tea party. They were founded as an almost libertarian conservative party, which I had no real beef with, but were quickly hijacked, partly due to their popularity. Yeah, saying that those in the OP are representative of the party is indeed a generalization.

However, I think you, and most on this forum, would probably find enjoyment and fulfillment in reading about something called controlled opposition. The best form of intelligence gathering is counter intelligence, that is to say the controlled release of information to suss out the true information. The best form of control is something called controlled opposition. That is to say the control of a phony opposition to suss out the real opposition.

The tea party, from my perspective, based on the actions of their leadership at least, is very much so a controlled opposition group. Some people are suckers and follow them, much like the democrat and the republican parties, but most know when push comes to shove, the party isn't really on your (the individual's) side.

Ask yourself if you honestly feel that the party you voted for is on your side, or are you on the party's side? There's a big and fundamental difference.

The teaparty is a new party. It's like they are acting like they are all Politicians. At least they aren't hiding their Politician ways.

We already lost.

We have people who are controlled by alpha maleism left over from 20k years ago when it actually mattered for survival of the species. People aren't educated about it in schools and they go through their entire life being controlled by it. Its called ego, or super ego. Its ridiculous and stupid.

I love the comment in the comment section by nbkcq28.

They should join the Wesboro Baptist Church.

These idiots are targeting American people and I'm all for American people. They should be targeting the handouts we give so many other countries. And this also seems very staged

I am a conservative but I am also for social welfare. We must help the people who can not help themselves and I believe the money we are using to fight these endless needless wars should pay for it.

I know does not sound very conservative does it but if you have seen my posts before you know where I stand. And if you even think for a second that progressives will treat the needy any better remember what the Nazi's did and they were progressives. They believed in the rights of the whole over the rights of the individual. When you live by that law it becomes easy to get rid of anyone who does not give to the collective.

This video is old. Source doesn't even exist.

My guess would be that these are ocw people or at the very least a bunch of liberals acting like tea party members.

Probably paid by Obama personally. Sounds like something that moron would do.

That video really is disgusting. It tells you exactly what the Tea Party stands for.

Here's some information about the dude they were mocking:

Bob, the man with Parkinson's who was targeted by the Tea Partiers, sat down with ProgressOhio for an interview. He is 60 years old and was first diagnosed with Parkinsons 15 years ago. He has two masters degrees and a Ph.D. from Cornell. He taught at the University of Michigan and worked as a nuclear engineer.

Bob was able to have a $150,000 surgery that greatly increased his quality of life, thanks to Medicare and the Cleveland Clinic. He attended the event in Columbus because he believes in giving back and thinks everyone should have access to affordable health insurance and quality health care.

(Source).

This is a highly educated man who has spent his life working in respected professional positions, but the Tea Partiers treat him like a bum!

I enjoy the threads that show progressives to be uncaring idiots and see the progressives here lecture all of us on how it is not representative of the whole . . . .

And then turn around and see a thread attempting to smear the Tea Party by the actions of a few people.

Haven't seen a good Tea Party-bashing thread in a while! As a member of the Tea Party (long-standing) I'd be willing to entertain any questions the progressive elements here may have.

I'm a social conservative, but I have a question for you: why does the Tea Party pretend to be a grassroots group when we all know it was created and bankrolled by the Koch Brothers?

It was?

Our group remains untouched by any outside organization or individual. We started our Tea Party group a few years ago with folks who were democrat, republican, conservative, liberal, . . . .

Our central message was personal responsibility, smaller government, individualism.

I'm not white, and frankly people in our group could care less about such non-issues.

I joined the Tea Party because the republican party disgusted me. I've since joined the Libertarian Party (for voting) but remain someone who still enjoys the grass root group that got me interested in local and national politics.
