I also read while researching the "GOP cut funding to diplomatic security" claim...would the funding have made a difference? The suprising answer, NO....cuz the Behngazi wasn't in the State Department budget, it was in the CIA's classified budget.

Actually, it was a Consulate Compound. The CIA station was to the Southeast and if you get the reading through enough of the declassified/unclassified communications back and forth to Benghazi, you'll get to see it was something of an issue between "full" consulate and consulate compound. However, the first document of the bunch, establishes the ownership and intentions for the Benghazi State Department Compound.

The set is addressed to Patrick Kennedy, under secretary of State for Management. He overseas quite a lot, actually. Here's the list of departments he handles. He started in 2007 and still serves. He also served in the Iraq Provisional Authority. Small world, huh? What could go wrong? There are nearly 170 documents there and it's good reading right from page one. They're source stuff released last year of the back and forth to Benghazi's diplomatic compound, out to the Tripoli Embassy and Washington. Thank goodness for Congressional investigations. Things like this get released.

The official reports, such as the one from the Accountability Review Board and the Senate Homeland Security Committee report, essentially dance around that uncomfortable fact:

“In December 2011, the Under Secretary for Management approved a one-year continuation of the U.S. Special Mission in Benghazi, which was never a consulate and never formally notified to the Libyan government.” (ARB)

“The attacks in Benghazi occurred at two different locations: a Department of State ‘Temporary Mission Facility’ and an Annex facility (‘Annex’) approximately a mile away used by another agency of the United States Government.” (Senate report)

Pursuant to Title III of the Omnibus Diplomatic and Antiterrorism Act of 1986, 22 U.S.C. § 4831 et seq., (the “Act”), Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton convened an Accountability Review Board (ARB) for Benghazi to examine the facts and circumstances surrounding the September 11-12, 2012, killings of four U.S. government personnel, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, John Christopher Stevens, in Benghazi, Libya.

A series of attacks on September 11-12, 2012 involving arson, small-arms and machine-gun fire, and use of rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), grenades and mortars, focused on two U.S. facilities in Benghazi, as well as U.S. personnel en route between the two facilities. 23 of the 30 Americans rescued in Benghazi were CIA...only 7 were with the State Department.

If I recall correctly, those SEALs that were purposed to guard the Ambassador were conservative Christians; I remember all the support they got from California churches that were mostly Republican in the 90s before heading over there. Why the American aircraft was not sent in to rescue.

They would have been shot down by the SAMs the state dept gave to Al Queda. The ensuing investigation would have led to the state dept responsible for shooting down American aircraft.

I can only partially agree with this.

I think the MSM is also largely to blame for ignoring these stories until recently. Benghazi is not new, but some media are only covering it in recent weeks as if it were. A lot like the Goznell trial. Not many knew about it, because most liberal media refused to cover it out of fears of how it may change pro-abortion views.

This is much the same. The lap dog media that was once covering for Obama, his fan club of boot licking sycophants, has begun to awaken to the fact that they are getting a dose of "Et tu, Brutus?".

Once the Whitehouse attacked the press, it was ON. No way any of them will back off now. Let us not forget that just mere weeks prior to most of these stories hitting the MSM, Fox News excluded, the media was crying about being threatened by the Whitehouse. No one payed attention or gave any credence to those stories, either.

Now, when they realize they too can be thrown under the bus, that no one, or at the very least a select few will be spared, the knives came out.

CARNEY: Well, let me just make clear, I do stand by that when we were talking about the talking points that were produced by the CIA and provided to members of Congress on the Intelligence Committee in the House who would ask for it and others, as well as folks in the administration, that that document was -- there was a suggested edit that was accepted by the White House, and that was a change from, to make it factual, the calling of the building in Benghazi a “consulate,” because it was not a consulate, to “diplomatic post” or “facility.” I can't remember which.ch.

But there were. Some 30 odd survivors, that have been hidden in hotels by the Feds, and threatened about talking to anyone. Their Civil Rights being denied, as they are housed away like prisoners of war, to keep them from talking to anyone, including the media, and blowing Obama's cover.

Where ARE the survivors? Why is no one DEMANDING they not only be revealed, but RELEASED? Some of these people are Civilians, while many are State Dept. and CIA.

The NDAA at work, and the entire country is complicitly silent.
