Pat Robertsons Cheating Advice Sparks Outrage

Pat Robertsons cheating advice didn’t go over as well as he may have hoped. The evangelist, who appeared on Thursday’s 700 Club, responded to a woman pleading for advice on how to forgive her husband’s cheating by saying, “well, he’s a man.” ........ “Recognize also, like it or not, males have a tendency to wander a little bit. What you want to do is make a home so wonderful that he doesn’t want to wander.”

So women are just supposed to put up with it because men are going to commit adultry it's in their nature? And it's the woman's fault because if she had a nice home and homelife then he wouldn't want to wander?? That's what it look like he's saying. This isn't the neanderthal time period. Men are supposed to be civilized and not ruled by their primal procreative instincts but instead are supposed to be controlled by their brains.

Man .... oh man .... oh man ...... just

In the article, Robertson told the woman to 'stop talking about the cheating'. I think that's a bad idea. If there is a problem that contributed to the cheating, then it has to be discussed and resolved, or else there will just be more cheating in the future.

Social issue .... So ATS what's your take?
Are husbands just expected to cheat (or 'wander a bit' as Robertson called it?).
Is it automatically the wifes fault for not 'having a nice home' or 'nice homelife'??
What do you think?

I heard about this on the late news last night. My first thought was..."I wonder how many times Pat Robertson may have cheated on his wife?" ....I'm just saying.

If a husband cheats it is his fault...he did the cheating...and to put the blame on the spouse...is so telling about (the lack of good character) in Pat Robertson. I don't like him...and I have no respect for him.

That was EXACTLY my first thought as well. Considering the guy preaches the Ten Commandments which includes 'thou shalt not commit adultry' .. his brush off with 'well, he's a man', seemed VERY STRANGE. You'd think a preacher would say .. 'get together and pray as a family' ... 'talk about what is bothering you and what is bothering him' ... 'get to the root of the problem and deal with it' ... remember 'what would Jesus do' ...

... but no, he brushed it off as something that men just naturally do. My first thought and continuing thought is the same as yours ... 'how many times has he cheated' ..

No one should be disrespecting their spouse in that manner.
No man .. no woman. Lies and disrespect are what cheating is.

LOL yeah it sure does sound like its something he has done in the past. His response is probably what he told his wife too lol. I don't think it works in any scenario however, certain aspects of home life can and do contribute. Doesn't make it right, but it does happen.

I disagree with the lies part. How is lying considered cheating. Sometimes it is in the best interested to lie.

There are certain unwritten codes to go by when in a relationship. It has a lot of grey area. Some would believe that kissing is considered cheating. Some would disagree. Mistakes do happen after all we are only human.

No, but two negatives do make a positive ( Just kidding) but you are right
Betrayal is the ultimate sin a woman can do to a man.

Pat Robertson is mentally challenged.

Why bother having the Ten Commandments if you're going to cherry-pick which ones you follow? Nowhere in "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" does it qualify that this rule only applies to women and not to men.

Cheating destroys relationships, destroys trust, breaks up homes, and often destroys the person that is being cheated on. If you cannot stop yourself from cheating, then do not get into a committed relationship. It is really just that simple.

WOW
....what a joke, and he's a minister!!....I bet his wife already has the basement set up with a single chair, a spotlight, several perverse torture instruments, and a divorce attorney on speed dial.

He is beating around the bush (no pun intended) about saying that if the woman would continue to keep the husband happy (in the bedroom) then they will have less temptation to go out and find some from not his wife....

The husband needs to actually love the woman he is with, this is the fault of noone but the husband! If you have issues in the bedroom, that is something you discuss with your wife you love, not go out and cheat!

Isn't the Ten Commandments from the Old testament. Most people now a days only follow the new testament. I know I am splitting hairs but in reality it's a true statement.

When a person cheats .. they lie. They tell the spouse that the spouse is the only one and they promise not to be with anyone else. When they break that promise, that means that promise was a lie. Cheating and lies go hand in hand.

I am going to say the above a bit differently: Betrayal is one of the ultimate sins that a man or woman can do to each other.

it's too bad the brain isn't as evolved as everyone likes to say it is

and testicles have a habit of refilling. i think what shes trying to say is, wives need to be a little more freaky. to compete with hardcore porn, that is.
