Sounds like a good excuse to make this scandal disappear! What's next on the list to take off Obama's scandals? They will be coming soon enough....Once the term impeachment was released into the news, these will all go away....

People can keep reading with their eyes closed though, it has worked up through now and will continue to work on the sheep down our path with this fantastic organization

I'm definitely not surprised at all that these emails were altered
It really makes you wonder how much water all these scandals that the GOP keep manufacturing really hold though.

Some more Benghazi unraveling coming from ABC

The differences in the two versions are being taken by some as evidence that my source sought to intentionally mislead about the extent of State Department involvement in changing the talking points. The version I obtained makes specific reference to the State Department, while the version reported by CNN references only “all of the relevant equities” and does not single out State.

ABC

ABC's source was most likely someone within the Republican house.

The truth is that Karl’s source was likely someone within the Republican House, because these emails were made available to the Republicans investigating Benghazi months ago. (Before Karl came to ABC he was a congressional correspondent at CNN, so connect the dots. Plus, it wasn’t a coincidence that this story broke days before House Republicans held another Benghazi hearing.)

Dear Benevolent Heretic,

I always like your posts to me, polite and thought provoking. Same thing this time.

You seem to be confusing the original "Talking points" with the release of the "Emails" that drove the changes in the talking points. This thread charges that the EMAILS were edited by the GOP.
I think you're right. They can be seen as two parts of the same process, though, figuring out what words would be given to the world to explain what happened.

Sadly, I think the OP is not supported by any evidence offered. There is no evidence anywhere that there are two e-mails, one with different wording from the other. So what did happen? Here are two accounts from the links within OP's source:

CNN has obtained an e-mail sent by a top aide to President Barack Obama about White House reaction to the deadly attack last September 11 on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, that apparently differs from how sources characterized it to two different media organizations.
The e-mail differed from "characterizations," not from some other e-mail.
thelead.blogs.cnn.com...

I asked my original source today to explain the different wording on the Ben Rhodes e-mail, and the fact that the words “State Department” were not included in the e-mail provided to CNN’s Tapper.

This was my source’s response, via e-mail: “WH reply was after a long chain of email about State Dept concerns. So when WH emailer says, take into account all equities, he is talking about the State equities, since that is what the email chain was about.”

abcnews.go.com...

Honestly? I believe CBS reporting on this subject is entirely biased by the relationship of the two Rhodes brothers, one the President of CBS, the other, involved in writing the e-mails. ATSers would never accept information tainted like that on any other issue. Conclusion? The e-mails themselves weren't altered, and the originals from the White House have been available to everyone, although they were released only under pressure and when no other dodge was available.

With respect,
Charles1952

Just to clear up some confusion...

The GOP Committees/panels HAD the emails already, but they were "classified"

Feeling comfortable that the Whitehouse wouldn't release them...the GOP selected the most politically advantageous snippets, edited them to fit the theme and leaked them.

In response the Whitehouse redacted classified material and released the actual emails to the press.

What those emails show is that ..

(A) The GOP lied and mocked up emails that they leaked.
(B) That the whole "it started as protests" thing began with PAGE 1/DRAFT 1 issued by CIA analysts...NOT added by the Whitehouse or State like the GOP claimed.

The CIA also warned of potential attacks...but they warned everyone, not just Benghazi and did so BECAUSE OF THE PROTESTS that were at all the embassies throughout the middle east.

Thus the initial theme/CIA intelligence of protests evolving to extremist attack.

So apparently everything the GOP was claiming was complete BS.

What is in the emails is in-fighting between the State Department and CIA...

CIA's first draft says that CIA warned them, thus trying to hand any fallout to State (Cover-your-ass)

State took issue with it because they saw it for what it was. CIA was warning all the embassies about protests regarding the film...which was fair cuz there was violent protests everywhere in the middle east surrounding the video...But CIA was playing it like they warned specifically/only about Benghazi...State didn't appreciate the CYA attempt at thier expense.

For it's part the Whitehouse staff simply sat back...said "play nice"...and took what they were given as an end product.

The title is about as misleading as what comes out of the Tyrant 0bama mouth.

Here is the title from the news article,

Republicans Altered Benghazi Emails, CBS News Report Claims

Now, what is that last word there???? CLAIMS....

It doesn't show proof, just that a reporter CLAIMS this.

Oh, and CBS uses Mother Jones as their source.

Yeah, lets buy into that. Still got that bridge for sale.

Ok, but how do you explain every other news oulet having the same altered emails...and all of them finding the exact same descrepancies?

Including the "Weekly Standard"...are they subject to your conspiratorial "liberal" corruption bias that you propose for the discrepancies?

The Weekly Standard got the edited emails from the same source CBS did..Same editing..

BTW - There were multiple edits to the emails that apparently John Boehner's press secretary leaked...

Republicans Outed as the Source Of ABC’s Deliberately Edited Benghazi Emails

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that after months of BS and the evidence goes public that the GOP appear to be the only ones who lied and "edited" the facts surrounding this issue.

How do we know for sure who's versions are genuine?

Maybe the WhiteHouse released "edited" versions to counter possible genuine material released as classified to Congress?

Maybe Congress "Leaked" some just to force the hand?

When we have nothing but "He said She said" at this point, I would say the White House is much more capable of the grade school games. They really are the ones who need to deflect.

And don't forget Hillary's "dark" advisers.
They may have played a bigger role than we think.

CBS AND the Weekly Standard both used the same GOP source...for the same EDITED emails...

This isn't just CBS or Mother Jones...Even the source himself tried to weasel away from his edits when those who know him asked WTF.

So this falls into "reality"...not dismiss CBS as some secret Liberal org. ABC, Weekly Standard, CNN etc. etc. are all starting to report this and ask why they were lied to and given BS emails by the GOP source.

NOPE....Congress (GOP) HAD the emails...they couldn't relase them because they were classified at the time....that means they easily reconciled the emails they had already obtained to the emails the Whitehouse released and didn't contest any of it.

So it was the GOP who, assuming the emails wouldn't be released, edited the emails to serve thier BS and leaked them.

If the Whitehouse had edited a single apostophy in the already obtained emails...the GOP would have gone bonkers...they had/have the originals.

Not a "he said-she said" the Whitehouse and the GOP both had the same emails...but the GOP leaked a mocked-up different version.

Now they can claim what you are trying to claim...but the emails are evidence in a congressional hearing...submitted long ago...and everyone saw them. It only took this long to release because they were classified.

So the GOP excuse that the Whitehouse edited them...IS BS...and everyone in every hearing that already reviewed the emails knows it...the GOP included.

Thanks for the links! This "Benghazi-Gate" is turning around on a dime.

Darrell Issa Is Refusing to Allow Co-Chairs of Benghazi Review to Testify in Public

On Meet the Press last Sunday, Issa tried to smear Pickering as refusing to testify, but things didn’t go so well for the Congressman. It turns out Pickering was waiting to speak on the show, and he denounced firmly the notion that he had been invited to speak. In fact, he said he was told he was not welcome by Republicans, who are the majority in the House wherein these Scadaliscious hearings took place:

And down the rabbit hole we go.

Oh, so they caught the GOP staffer red handed, and have the direct evidence to show the emails were in fact, modified to include non truthful information, and there are certified originals to compare against?

Correct on all fronts...But the GOP Leaker who edited the emails to fit the BS, who is suspected to be John Boehner's press secretary...forgot his name, hasn't been outright fingered by the Weekly Standard, CBS et al. yet.

But the News outlets who got that mocked up email know exactly who handed them the BS to report...

I think ABC (I can google it up if you need) was the first to ask the GOP source WTF via email...and he provided a pretty bad squirrelly answer that didn't hold water...essentially not answering why he gave them a false email, but rather saying "it doesn't make a difference"..in so many words...

So understanding that reporters don't like to be used, given fake material and lied to in such circumstances...I expect this GOP source will be the target of a "Leak" himself by the press he duped shortly...

Edit to add: The "Certified" Originals were entered as evidence into the GOPs congressional hearings months ago. They were classified at the time and the GOP was not allowed to copy or distribute.

This GOP source...assuming they wouldn't be released...took the liberty of re-writing and leaking snippets of those emails to fit the GOP narrative (which has now collapsed.) and gave them to the Weekly Standard and CBS etc.

I think the White House submitted edited versions in the first place.

They have been good at changing things around to suit their needs and wants.

They changed those talking points to begin with....why not change some emails too, and even "create" some fake ones.

I think maybe these "edited and leaked" GOP versions may have been leaked by White House operatives.

They have fooled you.

But if you listen to the GOP talk, this whole thing was Obama's fault, and had nothing to do with them. These people are so transparent it is simply laughable. This just goes to show how the political game works. It does not matter who is at fault, as long as they can blame it on someone else, and have a following of sheep ignorant enough to believe their lies. That is the whole purpose of Fox News by the way.

That makes no sense...the emails circulated through multiple branches of government...CIA, State, FBI, NSC and Intelligence Committees that are headed by GOP folks...

No way for the Whitehouse to change the emails and not be caught...

Apparently you missed the news? The Whitehouse didn't change the talking points...The original CIA draft said "protests"...the emails that the GOP in Congress have already accepted as evidence months ago show the same...You hear any GOP congressman taking issue with the veracity of the email relase?? Or just ducking thier shameful heads avoiding reporters...or shouting about the IRS, hoping folks forget about thier lies on Benghazi...Oh that's right...Michelle Bachman is the only one still shouting about it.

The GOP just got busted making sh*& up again.

It's like when Obama released his Long-Form...Growing silence with just the wacko's left leading the charge
