I Think There Are Some Things That Are Missing From ATS

I think it would be great if Above Top Secret actually had a room for SUGGESTIONS that people could go and vote for additional protocol. I would, also, love to know who the people are that give stars and flags to specific articles that I write so that I may be able to thank them personally when they do. It would be nice to have a Star & Flag alert system in the message area.

I think what has left the boat of ATS is kindness,a little understanding and some education without ridicule.Respect for those that are new.Let the new freely expose their thoughts without being hammered upon.

You never know,out of all those posts may lay a gem.

I agree. In fact it's getting harder and harder to post now days without having to worry about that. So much energy spent on that makes people not interested.

The censorship is necessary sometimes to keep from flames being fanned over incendiary topics. I am glad they get rid of certain threads, I myself have slipped and had a thread removed and I was thankful they did it. After further thought I realized I had no business making what was a poor attempt at a joke, it was at the expense of another and deserved to be dismissed.

A paragraph together is fine. Every sentence doesn't need a space, but not five paragraphs squished into one.

There is a suggestion box. They just call it a complaint box around here. There is also a Board & Business forum where you can voice suggestions and opinions.

I do not like the idea of revealing who flags and stars what though. I prefer the anonymity. If someone wants to let us know when they starred and flagged a thread, they usually do.

By the way, ATS is not a democracy (thank goodness.) Don't expect to see polling or voting.

However, the whole idea with polling (we have done polls in the past) is that it creates more technical problems sometimes (or at least it did) than it is worth to deal with. That said, we have used them previously, and may again.

Well the board and business room doesn't specify that it is a place for suggestions, at least I think an actual suggestion forum would get more benefit. Stars and Flags may not need to be shown by who gave them, but it would be nice to know when a specific quote or article gets them. As it stands, unless you actually go back and look at each specific post you have no way of knowing, at least alert people to that, simple really, they track replies in the message area, they could have a star and flag alert, too.

Even it if it is not polling, it would give people an actual forum that would be a place to specify suggestions without taking votes or tracking the data as a poll. The goal is to get better at what ever we do, ATS is no different in this regard.

The Board Business forum is the perfect forum for suggestions, if you want to make them there. For one thing, it is a board most mods check every day they log on.

How about a view counter? Doesn't have to show who viewed, but just a count.

Not everyone replies, stars, and/or flags. Would be be nice to see your thread is at least getting seen.

It may be viewed,but then again there may be no response.

My biggest beef is the deny ignorance thing has become deny open mindedness and critical thinking.

What was this site founded on and what do those that have been here along time think.

Area 51 .Ghosts. Bigfoot.UFO's.

All that got buried by current political things and current events.

The essence,the base of ATS has been overcomed by what is in front of of us,what has been pushed back is what is going on behind the curtain.

When those things that use to be what ATS once was are brought up in to view,it is squashed to the point that no one wants to bring anything to the table anymore.
The dinner table has fallen silent accept for what is on the nightly news.

Agree with what you said, decorum and respect for others viewpoint. Just because you don't agree ,state why you don't agree, don't ridicule anothers viewpoint. Try to get the other one to consider your point of view., or try to find out why they feel that way, or just politely agree to disagree.

Maybe then we could come up with more logical reasoning for some of the things that are going on now, and perhaps find more stuff to analyze. (If we're not trying to flame each other)
