Many years ago I just searched the web for various information and did not know about filtering. I was shocked by what I saw and then I learnt about filtering and customised my search results and web browsing.

Well, both of my children are grown up now so I no longer need Net Nanny or 'safe' mode, why? Because I am an Adult and I learnt today that it is better not to live behind some 'safe' filter' because I just reported to ICE a website that I discovered and hopefully the SOBs will be arrested and a little girl will be saved.

Keeping our eyes closed is not good, living in our 'safe' World because we can customise what we see is denial and morons like these thrive.

There are many other kinds of Secret Societies and Organisations and some of them traffic human beings, produce illegal material involving children etc.

From now on, I am going to leave my search filter 'off' and continue to browse the Internet and if I come across anything that looks wrong... I will report it and I hope others do the same.

It is easy to report anything you see online that maybe suspicous to either ICE or INTERPOL

I think the real question is "what were you searching for to find that in the first place?"

your reply actually made me really angry and I had to go away and calm down

but that is ok, hold me in contempt.

do yourself a favor and do a search for 'stroke' without the safe filter on and I can assure you, you (depending on your search engine) will get 500 responses that give you info about medical strokes, 400 responses that will be about 2 stroke engines and at least a 1000 stroke it sex etc.

that is the unfortunate reality and for your information, in that search I was looking for information about strokes...medical issue.

I am pretty sure I am not the only one that has had a nasty jump out at them online.

thanks

There is no hiding when using a filter, its just smart. There are lots of things out there that even if "accidentally" searched there is no way to prove that, and those that choose to search without filters is up to them, but I wouldnt suggest it.

Some of the things that you mentioned and the reason that it was asked what you were looking for will be typical for someone either in the deep web, or some one not using a filter and scrolling through many different results.

Good luck out there in the "filter free" zone as it can take you and your internet history into a lot of places you may not want to go.

Peace, NRE.

thanks NRE. I am not worried about being held in contempt or anything like that and my search browser is enough to prove my innocence.

it was a strange thing really because when I was about 13 or 14 I remember seeing the scariest movie ever and I remember being so terrified and I had a dream about werewolves recently and decided to be brave and get some info and watch it again and was looking for the actress and had the 'images' on to see if I could remember the woman in the movie and I was clicking on images and one took me to an overseas site and that is the one I reported.

as innocent as that and it is sad to see anything like that. It was a picture that I saw on a website.

if more People report things like this, then perhaps it will help in some way.

A possible concern could also be if he authorities are also monitoring the site, IF that is happening your IP address would appear, and to be perfectly honest, considering you are a member here, then you may know that saying that you decided one day to remove your filter, and accidentally go there, may not be believable.

There are many way to get involved with helping without incriminating yourself (even if innocently).

Peace, NRE.

Our Personal Web Bubble

Google automaticaly filters your web experience according to what you search for,

in what context and what kind of sites you usually visit.

This way, everyone lives in their own web-bubble.

If everyone on ATS did a search for the same term,

everyones result would differ according to their personal surfing habits.

Click on these dark sites often and they will appear in all of your search results.

For example:

Once I let my wife listen to Jon Bovi on youtube.

1 or 2 songs, no more....

Ater that, Jon Bovi songs started coming up in my "suggestions list" for the next week...

There may be worse things, but that was distressing enough for me.

Protect the Kids

Safe filtering only creates a fluffy bubble for kids,

Web-Education is better.

Don't click on ads or flashing symbols, Nothing is free,

Don't give away personal details, Ignore everything except what you are searching for.

It's more important to teach kids personal responsibility than wrap them in cotton wool.

I don't want these kind of sites on my surfing history,

so I don't click on them.

Kudos to you, OP, for reporting the evil people.

Tfw.

Werewolves of London is a famous classic song by Warren Zevon. I think what you were after is the film An American Werewolf in London. Fantastic film.

Be careful of searching too hard. I did my masters theses on human trafficking and once that crap gets on your computer its hard to get off - and this is indirectly (not actually going to porn sites). You might also want to contact ICE, the FBI, and center for exploited and missing children to understand how you can help without becoming another suspect (they know who are searching these sites and a red flag may go off). Also - always report to two agencies. Not just ICE or FBI. Do this because there is corruption (think of Dutroux affair). I'm not going to post the link (may have been taken down for graphic pictures anyway) but that was a horrid case and there was a lot of hard proof of corruption. Even police officers and politicians can be pedaphiles.

I think the most eye-opening thing to me is that this type of material is still on the "regular" web. My impression is that you'd need a Tor browser and the so-called Deep Web to get to content like this.

What a messed up world we live in.

Ditto that! The whole search thing is basically a personal web bubble, it creates like in real life were everybody prescribes to there click or group and there own particularities a sort of bubble world within the overall world. Its the same on the internet, and with the search engines tailoring the variables to that particular computer or person it sort of becomes a place were people who search for things end up finding the things which they are tailored to the engines that basically create and constantly look to find what you want to see based on what you were looking for.

So ya it creates internet clicks and internet bubble worlds within the overall vastness of the internet and two different people searching for the same phrase would get different results. Companies are also putting a lot of $$$ into such things to refine and for programs to better "know" the ones who are using there engines, which will in all just help more with the whole bubble internet world which already exists. Its pretty much and it mirrors real life, different groups and clicks tend to stick withing there social circle or whatever they relate or define themselves as, and basically you could say they life in different worlds and it would not be that far off the truth. It also makes for some bizarre circumstances, for instance take religions or the modern religions Christianity and Islam there basically the same thing they worship the same God, they just both prescribe to two different ways of doing the same thing. And so every time they clash, its like two zebras with a bit different stripes meeting each other on the African plain and running headlong into each other, because there to similar for comfort to each-other, and the same can be said of everything else.

And as that is but a reflection of the more overall world around them, so to is the internet but a mirror into the over all things going on in the world or around them. The whole thing, like the thing they call real life is tailored to suit there mental mind frames, basically they see what they want to see. But ya op as the technology and programs get better at knowing what a person would want before they would even think of it, things will get more ingrained into bubble worlds that people would life in both in the real world, and in there online world in completely different bubble worlds, so ya when they search for the same phrases they will get two completely different results, based on there tailoring.

A self created reality based on the things which they would not want to see, however if they do not see it, it still would exist, its a bizarre experiment in social mental mainframes were if a bunch of people would see or look at the same thing they would see two completely different things. The internet is light years behind real life I am afraid, it merely gets two completely different results. But give it a few centuries, and things may get a bit strange here on planet earth, instead of fighting over religions and politics we would be fighting over the results of our different search engines.
