Syria: Attack on military facility was a 'declaration of war' by Israel

A Syrian official called an attack Sunday on the nation's military research facility a "declaration of war" by Israel.

In an interview with CNN, Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al Mekdad said the attack represented an alliance between Islamic terrorists and Israel.

He added that Syria would retaliate against Israel in its own time and way.

So now we finally have a response from an official Syrian government representative. The Deputy Foreign Minister, Faisal al Mekdad has claimed that the attack on Syria by Israel is an act of war, claiming further that the Syrian government would retaliate against Israel for its aggression "in its own time and way."

I am glad that Syria has finally spoken out, but if they attack Israel, i have a feeling that # will hit the fan. Israel would likely retaliate to any act from Syria, perhaps resulting in a new war, no doubt involving the USA and its allies. What of Syria though? They would likely find alliance with Iran, but we will see how Syria handles things, considering the current struggle they are in.

"in its own time and way" means they are pretty much not going to do anything directly and instead use a group like hezbollah to fire a couple missle or blow up a school bus. Syria was no match for Isreal before the revolt now they would be in real trouble. Iran could could yell about it but that is about it. Syria knew getting completely and publicly in bed with hezbollah would have repercussions but, they need loyal fighters to defend Assad. This will be a case where Syria just has to suck it up and concentrate on surving another day against it owns people without picking outside fights.

Crazy how a nation thinks its ok to preemptively attack another nation.

Its almost like gun control on a global scale. Disarm a nation then impose your will.

Syria is no match for izrael's arsenal "courtesy" of the American tax payer.

However, this may be a good opportunity to push for sanctions against these Western aggressor nations.

Saw the video. It looks like a bunker buster as there is delayed explosion, but the explosion is quite big.

There'll be no such thing!

This will be contained. Just as we thought the North Korean situation would blow up, so will we think (erroneously, mind you) that this too will blow up. It won't. Syria most probably will not directly retaliate - they have enough trouble with internal enemies rather than starting a war with another country (which probably is better militarily).

Edit: After looking at it again it appears to be the same strike, two in 48 hours. The first strike appears to have been done earlier in the year.
